Hello everyone
Today I try TrekBuddy on my B2710 and first impressions are Ok
I made atlas of my place with Mobile Atlas Creator 1.8 beta 2 very easy.
I was to some short track just to view how it work, and for me is fine.
I also load my .gpx file into google earth to view my track and everything is ok but with small deviation.
Can you tell me did TrekBuddy have some kind of monitoring options like how much i track is long, time spend in walk, max, min and average speed...
Sorry for bad English... |

Take a look at "Themes" section in this forum. What you need is a CMS. _________________ Nokia N8 (Belle Refresh) |

| So actually you have it working. TB runs good on my B2710, but I can't figure out what I should put into the data dir field. I don't have a memory card yet, but I suppose for testing the phone's memory should suffice? |

Hey,
I have that problem on my Samsung B2710, too.
When I try to change "GPX dt(s)" and "GPX ds(m)" in the "Location" menu, the keypad goes to number mode and there is no "clear" key available, so I can only add numbers in the window, not delete them. So I cannot set the value lower than 60 (default).
And there is no way to change keypad from number mode to letter mode (which has the "clear" key), no matter what I press, the keypad stays in number mode.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance... |

I don't know for the GPX fields, but in the data dir field, when you hold down the #-key (lower right corner of the mobile) for some seconds, you get a window where you can edit the text, and swich between number and letter modes etc.

OKAY,bad news is, in the GPX fields, the #-key doesn't work.
The good news is, I know now what the datadir has to be like for using internal memory:

trekbuddy works fine on my samsung b2710 too.
i just stumbled upon a few minor problems:
- the thawte certificate is unknown to the device and it's not possible to install additional CAs
- track-logging will stop when the power saving mode gets active. pressing '3' for a few seconds, will change this behavior, but this will waste a lot of power by illuminating the display all the time.
- nmea-logging does not work and there is no useful information about the number of active satellites or 2d/3d-fix-state for the CMS view available.
- scrolling does not work very smooth when "lowmem I/O" + "forced GC" + "large atlases" is configured, but without this flags i could not use big maps on this device.
- the magnetic compass device is not supported
are there any solutions or workarounds for this shortcomings?
aside from that i really like your application!
thanks for all the work! |

I think there's nothing I can do with:
* certificate - this is J2ME killer issue
* power management - it is very very limited in j2me, you are lucky you control backlight
* NMEA logging: NMEA data are often not available with internal GPS, it is vendor-dependent: some provide complete NMEA, some only subset of NMEA sentences, but most of them nothing
I can try to
* improve scrolling speed
* check if magnetic sensor can be access |

Hello!
Would it be possible to create a workaround for the gpx field problem? For example setting the default values to something lower and making it a special edition for the B2710?
Anyway, thanks for a great program,
