Hi everyone,

I have a big problem of GoogleMap and it bothers me very much.

I download atlas from GoogleMap for climb mountain using, my GPS receiver pass data to my GPS device then location will appear on the atlas, the road information is very correct but the terrain is not.
As you know the precise is very important when you locate in the mountain, you have to decide go straight or move to side to dodge precipice or river. At this moment, precision is very important. The error distance about 50M to 80M around.

I don't know why the GoogleMap has some deviation with terrain mode. Anyone knows how to fix this problem?

Help! Help my solves this problem, thanks in advance.

Greetings, Gavin.Ying: Have you checked default datum in Settings/Basic in TrekBuddy? Appears WGS 84? Rolling Eyes I think this one is GoogleMap datum.

you must have coincidence on datum calibration map you use and datum setting in Trekbuddy to have distance error mimimized.

I hope help you with this solutions. ¡Good luck! Wink

Hi Nokianero,

Thanks for your reply first. I am sure set up my GPS device on WGS 84 already. You may check the attached file for my problem clearly. During this trail, I am sure most of time I walk on crest line but the trail show I walk on the precipice. And the top of mountain is also different with actual location.

Any way thanks for your help.

gps error can somtimes be ~50 meters like this case.
all sattelite google maps that I have seen are very precise. I have never used terrain maps, but I know that 3D terrain in google earth is not too precise ... can this be the case?
