Change DataDir value in Settings to match BB, eg.
Code: |
file:///SDCard/TrekBuddy/ |
and make sure that such path exists, and that tracks-gpx subfolder exists there.

hi kruch,
thanks for the hint, that was the piece I was missing. I already thought that the path is the problem, but I didn´t know what the correct one would look like:

What is the correct path to use on the BB 8800, apparently file:///E:/trekbuddy/ is not working...

This morning I was able to start a tracklog successfully. Partly at least, shortly somewhere on the road I heard a beep, which in retrospect probably signalled that trekbuddy stopped recording. Only three waypoints have been recorded. Is there a way to find out what went wrong?
some questions:
* Do I need to start the GPS in BB maps before I can use it in trekbuddy (when I opened BB maps GPS was off, even after I started trekbuddy)?
* How can I configure the interval trekbuddy uses in between recording trackpoints?
and yes, the screen looks pretty messed up, similar to what the other users posted, but in addition I am at a loss at how to actually use the gui.
thanks!

hi,
on my way home from work I was able to create a tracklog which was far longer, it stopped only after about 1,6km with more than 270 trackpoints recorded. This time I also was able to convert the gpx to kml using gpsbabel.
thank you kruch!!!

I played a little with the scrolling of the maps problem on my BB.
Seems like there is some problem with +- 1 pixel. E.g. the map-tile moves one pixel downwards, and the image inside the tile moves also 1 pixel downwards. This way from the upper part of the shown tile, ine line remains not updated.
I tried the same on the Simulator that i have, and it actually behaves the same way as on my mobile. But the device simulator is 2.6.0.49, and the latest version on the site is 2.6.0.69 i think (4.2.1.90). i am now downloading and will see whether it can also reproduce the problem.
In addition i noticed the following:
1. I used smaller tiles than the screen, and not all tiles were loaded. e.g. only one tile was loaded
2. While TB is receiving GPS data, and i try to move the map, using the keyboard, or the track ball - it seems like the receiving stops, and the position is no longer updated, and the speed no longer changes.

I'll try to reproduce the painting issue in the simulator.
When you scroll a map, it breaks "tracking" and puts TB into "browsing" mode (you can see "<>" in the 2nd OSD line instead number of satelites; ehm, with Internal provider, there is no such number...). You need to press Fire/5 (on "normal" phones) to get back into "tracking".

I solved the painting problem by checking following options under Tweaks: S60 Renderer and forced GC.
Everything seems to work now great. Except for the interval of tracking but I know it's on the wish list. Great app, thanks again kruch!!

@trispark Thanks! I'll put this into wiki. Is forced GC really necessary?
What's easier to deploy for you, BB users - alx+cod or jad+jar?

I think jar+jad works quite good and easy...
But for some users alx+cod could be simpler as it is integrated with the Device Manager

Just tested, NO!

jad+jar is fine with me since I discovered how to install it using Media Manager.
I found another bug on the BB8800: When I press 3 (ALT-3 to get the actual 3 key), the backlight fades out for 1 second every 5 seconds.
