I'm having a problem installing this on my Bold.

Every time I start up TrekBuddy I get the msg

"'DataDir' not accessible - please fix it and restart"

I tried changing the directory in basic settings, but I don't know what to change it to. I've made the empty folders as suggested in the /device memory/trekbuddy/ folder.

I can't find this answer anywhere and I've been looking for hours. Anyone know?

I installed TB on BB Bold with no problems. Follow instructions in this link http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1461

Thanks, that didn't work for me tho.

According to that I need a microSD card, but I don't have one. so under basic settings I put File:///Device%20Memory/trekbuddy/ cuz that's where I put all the files.

I also set Connections, Interactions and User Data all to "Allow" under the application permission settings.

Still, when trekbuddy starts up it still can't find the DataDir.

you can try to just open a map or atlas, when trekbuddy is running. it ask to set this one as "default map" or the like. i'm not 100% sure, but this way, trekbuddy should keep the correct path. at least worth a try.

another thought: on a sony device you are not able to create a folder in the root of the filesystem, you have to use some system folder, something like: .../others/trekbuddy/ instead of .../trekbuddy/

please do as hit suggests, you should see correct path for internal memory in Default Map then.

FYI, in my 8800/OS 4.5, internal memory is mounted under store/.

ok, I moved the folders. Now they're in...

/Device Memory/home/user/trekbuddy/

then I changed the DataDir to...

File:///Store/home/user/trekbuddy

Still not working.

Ok, I'll try loading a map. I don't know how tho, where do I start???

Start TrekBuddy. Press BB Key to open main menu, select Load Map to open file browser, go to folder where your map is, and select the calibration file / or .tar file. Once the map is loaded, you will be asked whether you want it use as default map. Say Yes. Open menu again, select Settings->Basic. Have a look at first item - Default Map. You will see how the path should look like for internal memory...

Here's the very basic map you can try.

world.tar
 Description:

Download
 Filename:  world.tar
 Filesize:  30 KB
 Downloaded:  49 Time(s)

Hmmmm.... cool

I dl'd that and put it all under the "maps" folder, tried to load the "world.map" file, and got this error:

"[6]null: InvalidMapException [null]:
Unknown calibration file: file:///store/
home/user/trekbuddy/maps/world.set"

Now, I THINK this just means I need to calibrate the map first, so I'll try learning how to do that.

This sample is ready-to-use map, either do not unpack it and open "world.tar" in TrekBuddy, or unpack it and open "world.map" file in TrekBuddy.

oh, hahaha, ok, gotcha. I unzipped it. my bad.

ok, so now I have the "world.tar" file in the appropriate folder, and loaded it successfully!! Wohoo!

...now I can't go into "basic" settings anymore. it just won't let me in. AND I still get the DataDir error again, just like I did originally, but now I can't get in to change it. I can just load the map every time I go in. I just think it's weird that even tho I set this new map to the default I still get the error.

I cannot reproduce it on 8800 Sad

I would give you 0.9.82beta for test, if you would be interested.. if so, do you install TrekBuddy OTA or using PC (with alx file)?

@kruch: what about the bug that negative height values are shown on the bold? I already reported this here: http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=17964#17964
