If I read your questions correctly:

Yes, if we are using Google Maps for driving directions, we need something to extract the waypoints in GPX format which we can then feed into ConvWPT which adds features for TB navigation. Searching the web, I can see:

GMapToGPX ( http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx/ ), which is having trouble keeping up with Google's code changes.

GoogleMap_CueSheet at http://www.the-yosts.com/googlemap_cuesheet.html . Works much the same as GMapToGPX, but is primarily designed for biking. It gives the full list of points, which you'd probably want to filter in ConvWPT.

Also: GPX driving directions at http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi , which produces a GPX file which ConvWPT doesn't paste. (tchelo_mgf: is it worth looking at this possibility?)

yes it seems work, but i am not able to use it.

sorry you are spending your time in a bad investment.

i like to do enduro and i thought that volcal turn assistance could be the best way for driving in a forest.

probably i am not clever enought.

thank you

No problem. Smile

In my ui-profiles folder, all there is is the unzipped contents of Theme.zip from post http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16847#16847 . My sounds folder contains the unzipped contents of Voice.zip from post http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16848#16848

Getting driving directions from Google Maps from 44.34679, 8.303877 to 44.34878, 8.304008 (just as a test), running GMapToGPX, copying the result, pasting it into ConvWPT and then Save GPX gives:

you speak about to takefrom gm a direction......

i am interested only in forest trip off road.

a big question....

my mission is, to get a track riding bike along a forest and the next time receive from TB a turn left or right assistance following my previous track... is it possible or it work only along city roads?

if it works, it needs that i, during the first trip, add every turn a custom, or simply TB will follow my track and when it turns more then 25° (for example) it tell me to turn?
thanks a lot

Ah right - I understand. Sounds interesting.

Sadly, that's beyond my knowledge. Can anyone else help?

@max600t: if you once have a track, made with oziexplorer or google earth or anything else, you have to convert it in gpx fomat and you'll be able to use ConvWPT to add the navigation symbols.
it doesnt matter if its a city road or anything else. for converting different format you can use gpsbabel ( http://www.gpsbabel.org/ ) for example. but there are also some online converter ( http://www.gpsies.com/upload.do?uploadMode=convert ). IIRC you have to save the gpx files in UTF-8 not plain ascii text. this will be done by notepad++ or even word for example.

It is also possible ! Follow the steps:
1) save the tracking log with TB using gpx format on your first riding along the forest.
2) copy the .gpx file from TB tracks-gpx to PC
3) open it on ConvWPT and press F5 (filtering)
- You can tune the angles and parameters for ConvWPT at Filter Settings screen (F6) until get a best filtering of waypoints.
4) save the new gpx on TB wpts folder
5) ensure your ui-profile and sounds folders are correctly configured
6) load it as Waypoints on TB
7) starts Route Along feature

Good ride.

firstly, thanks a lot to all.
and i pry you all to write using a very simply english and technical terms

now i have to clear to myself some things.

in TB there are 2 wtps folder one from maps one from switch 1... which is the difference?

the ui profile folder has shown in few posts ago is it correct?

i tried to do what i am looking for without succes...i explane you what i did:
i went in the forrest with a zone map from GM.
i recorded a track
i put this track in wtps folder (from switch 1)
now i have a route?( a red line on a map)
chosing route along i am able to follow the red line in a second time.

the vocal assistant is a problem that i will try to solve in the future.

i take the wtps file of my trip ( that is already a .gpx file) and paste it in convWTP( here i need a stepbystep explation ) i convert it i save it ...
i get a table conteining more or less 300 wtps with distance from eachether and a turn simbol.
problem... may be i red something like: the start or the first wtps null... in effect the first is empty.
from this table i am able to plot my trip with the right turn assistances.

the problem is that if i start" route along " i can see a simbol( all the same all fix) and a number(distance in km) but i dont undestand from and to is calculated.

last question( for today Wink )
the red line( trak) is enought to follow( and drive again) all my previous trip or a custom per turn is required.... and more... even if customs were required i could route along from the first to the last or i must drive from first to second and when i arrive to second i have to point the 3rd and so on????

thanks a lot to everybody for assistance and simply answers.

ciao

sorry, for me track is the record of my trip... is it correct? if it is correct why you write "a track, made with oziexplorer or google earth or anything else"... it has done by TB. the map where i go to put on my track is from GM.
please tell me what is wrong in my mind.

if the track is a .gpx file why have i to convert in .gpx with convWTP again?

IIRC(what is it?) you have to save the gpx files in UTF-8 not plain ascii text. this will be done by notepad++ or even word for example( could you theach me how to do)

thanks ciao
