Hi,

the elevation data are missing since the update to version 1.33 on an Android smartphone (Samsung S3´4 mini).

In the GPX file I can see only some entries with tag <ele>, that means 20 entries in a file with 22758 trackpoints <trkpt>.

Hello,

I have attached a GPX file.

Sorry there was a typo in the phone name. It is a Samsung S4 mini running with Android version 4.4.4.

Looks like a bug. In a way... In 1.33, original NMEA source is preferred when available (do not remember exactly why, but it contains more info for sure).

When TB parses NMEA, it considers altitude valid only when fix type in GSA is "3" (meaning 3D). Maybe this is too strict, or too simply wrong. In the attached log, most points have 7-9 satellites in view, yet fix is 2d... Confused

I googled a bit and it seems that minimum of 4 satellites is needed for usable altitude. I guess TB could use the assumption that with 4+ sats, altitude is valid.

Ranger, your opinion?

I agree Smile
If there are some phone internal bugs, they just are phone bugs ...
TB user just can try to use NMEA if something is wrong, but I saw wrong fix info in nmea for some models too.
@zimuland
Can you set nmea log to be used in TB and attach sample file ?

In the meantime... http://www.trekbuddy.net/dev/2017-03-28/trekbuddy.apk

When fix is not 3D but there are at least 4 satellites tracked, altitude is considered valid.

Log shows in GSA sentences 2D fix for GPS, Glonass & Beidou anytime.
Even if number of used sats is enough for 3D fix. No comments Smile
