How do I find that size from the MOBAC atlas?
I already generate OS + Virtual Earth atlases using GAMLoader to download the OS maps, MOBAC to download the Virtual Earth maps, MAPC2MAPC to convert the OS .map files then TBMapper to assemble the atlas.
I was wondering if it could be done more simply. Ideally, MOBAC would support the choice of datum directly since it can already download and assemble an OS and Virtual Earth atlas.
Many thanks for your continued help, your program has been of great assistance since I discovered TB!

There's a line in the .map file : IWH,Map Image Width/Height,2000,2000

I've hacked out of MAPC2MAPC just enough to convert a MAP file to OS format without accessing the image. No guarantees but try it. Put the EXE in Program Files with MAPC2MAPC

Excellent! Exactly what I'm after. Tried with a couple of atlases generated by MOBAC and it was perfect.

Another new version 2.4.0 is available. It has the ability to read Google Earth Overlay KML/KMZ files (only the first image). The ability to read these files means that Google Earth becomes a (almost) universal map calibrator. Fit any map as an image overlay and save as a KMZ; MAPC2MAPC will produce a set of calibration files for use with OZI, Memory-map, Trekbuddy etc. If you want a Garmin custom map then MAPC2MAPC will cut it into tiles.

jolly47roger, good idea! Useful for maps with unknown projetion.

Version 2.4.1 is available. This tries to reconstruct a whole image from 'tiles' in a KMZ; also allows calibrations in the Swiss Grid and adds scroll bars to the View window.

Version 2.4.2 is now available with better processing of KML/KMZ files :
"These files consist of one or more images that can be or have been overlaid on Google Earth. If the files have been created by a program that tiles the images and obtains coordinates from a calibration file then the program will join the adjacent images into a single one and compute calibrations from the input. If the images have been placed manually, overlap or have different scales then a slower process that maps pixels has to be used. If your image needs this to be done then check 'Generalised (but slower) build image from KML/KMZ' in Edit>Preferences. In either case, the built image needs to be saved before further processing. If you have an active internet connection then images referenced by URLs will be loaded."

Hi jolly47roger, I tested it, expect of option "Generalised (but slower) build image from KML/KMZ" and it works for me as proposed. The possibility to build a map from KML, containing html links to images, is very interesting!
Thanks, good work.

Version 2.4.5 is now available www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping
There are 3 main changes:
1. Option in preferences to write shorter tilenames for Garmin maps (e.g file_1, file_2, ... rather than file_0_0, file_0_1024, ...)
2. Handling French grids in Zones I,II,III and IV - the cartographic grids with 7-digit northings
3. New function : Edit Warp map to Lat/Long : If the original calibration was not a simple equirectangular Latitude/Longitude then this function (which may take some time to process) will reproject the map to an equirectangular one. If the map covers a large area and is not based on a simple projection then, in its original form, an exact Garmin custom map may not be created. As pixels are being resampled some loss of quality is inevitable. As part of this process the map will be oriented to the north. A map with straight grid lines and curved latitude/longitude lines will now have straight latitude/longitude and a curved grid.
Processing time will depend on the size of the map and the complexity of the algorithms describing the projection. This function converts the map in memory and you will need to save it if you wish to keep it.

Warp map to Lat/Long
Very interesting! There is very few free tools, capable of raster reprojection.

I have been looking at the possibility of enhancing MAPC2MAPC to read georeferenced files in MrSID and GeoJPEG2000 formats. If anyone is interested, please post here.

Very nice application!
Would it also work on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine? (I'm getting one soon...)
