Unfortunately I've got a Nokia 5310 which doesn't support this.

Would it be possible to receive the CB message via TP commands or can this be only acchieved from outside the phone?

Or another possibility: Is it possible to get the Cell-ID currently connected to with every device? That way you could create a text file with locations of cell-IDs (there are some lists on the internet, although they often don't have many cells registered), load it on the phone and the program could search for the coordinates there.

What about this:
http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/TSJ000964_-_Series_40:_System_Properties_in_Operator_and_Manufacturer_domain
Unfortunately I've got no coding experience in Java so I dont' really know what it says.
But even if its only possible in S60 phones this might be useful because you can get the location of a cell using the CellID and the LAC as arguments. I found a script and modded it to create a textfile with the location that could be read out of the program. Or you could get the location on-the-fly running the script from your phone (if you have internet connection available and/or are willing to pay for it). That way positioning might work without CBS.

I'm not exactly sure about what the Google license says about this though.

Unfortunately TB runs in 3rd Party domain, not Operator nor Manufacturer.

It works for me (TB v0.9.80):

After starting TrekBuddy, settings have to be changed:

Settings -> Locaton -> Provider: check 'o2' (instead of 'internal' eg)

Save the new settings, then 'Start'.

I guess something is wrong with the .jad, if you don't see the 'o2' provider
in settings.

hi, together,

next user - next problem.

i use trekbuddy 0.9.8 on my w890i with an hge-100 and have many fun. so i try it on my old k750i with the o2-provider and the same maps and get a problem.

my first test was in the middle of germany in marsberg. i press the start-buttom, i hear a sound, the point changes to green and i find myself in the middle of poland. beam me up, trekbuddy Confused

my coordinates are: N 50 37 3 E 20 0 23
It´s near Slupia in Poland. that can´t be the o2-cell i´m in.

so i try cbstest and get 348930570342, yes thats marsberg, as i controled it with www.4gps.de. So the gk-coordinates are right, but the positioning in tb is wrong.

Next test in the west of germany gets the same result. tb moves me to the west of poland.

wats wrong with me ore my tb

thanks,
det

ps: thanks for trekbuddy, its great.

Hi there Smile
I recently installed a beta build on my phone to test this (not 100% shure if it is the above attached)

I manipulated the .JAD file as described (added 'App-Flags: provider_o2_germany' as last line).
Enabled Cellbroadcast (Gebietsinfo) on my SE k770i and made an abbonement for CBS on number 221.
Then i gave order to show the CBS (Zellinformationen)on the Display. After that my Homezone was no longer displayed but instead under the PRovider Info a quite long number.
Well, i can live with that, i wont need this anyway too close to home ^^

So i started the treckbuddy insatllation via the manipulated .JAD file.
I made all settings, selected 'O2 Germany' as location provider and the 'filterdepth' to 1. Saved, quit the application restated it and started the 'location finding'

It took quite a while but after around 5 minutes TrekBuddy Displayed my location very roughly but it did! Smile
When i entered the subway I jumped wildley around the City (i think there are very few recivers down there) but gerneraly it placed me on the right side of the Globus ^^

I think this realy wont help you when you do geo-cashing but it might give you a general idea where to look for the street name you are in on the Map.

Hi i just decided to show you how exact o2 pinpoints your location.
I have attached a Bus tour from Hamburg to Berlin and back.

On the way from Hamburg to Berlin i used o2 as my location provider.
On the way back my trusty RoyalTek 2001 Smile

As you can see o2 is not very exact but it gets better in populated Areas.
So, this might help you to recreate a route aproximately but it wont help you to find Geo Caches or specific housenumbers.

The big plus is, that it just does not use extra energy!
I can let this just run for two days straight on my k770i and still use the phone as usual.
