Any S7710 owners willing to share their thoughts about it?
(How good is battery? Do plug covers still hold? How fast is GPS/GLONAS?....)

I 've got S7710 Xcover2 since about one year with no problem (battery, waterproof covers ...)
I've added a simple silicon protection for a max security ...
I use it for mountain bike and paraglide, and Trekbuddy run fine with a really fast fix.

For me, the only problem of this phone is the small phone memory : Sad
i've solved this problem with an ext micro sd card 64go (exfat but formated in fat32) for the maps or big files and i 've rooted the phone for moving all apps i want to the micro sd card.
After that ... perfect ! Very Happy

Thank you for your input.
When S7710 came out I thought it was going to be my next phone when price drops but I'm not so sure anymore. Two friends of mine that have/had this phone are complaining about constant memory shortage. Phone saves pictures and movies on internal memory despite default storage being set to SD. I also noticed on my friends S7710 that TB wouldn't use SD - it saves tracks, wpts... to internal storage. I could however load a map from SD, but I had to wade through file browser each time I wanted to change the map.
Another friend of mine was complaining that one day he couldn't get a GPS lock when he was traveling in France.
I've also read a review on Amazon where author is disappointed with GPS acuuracy:

The reason I've given the phone 3 stars rather than the original 4 stars is down to the GPS.

It starts off well - with the phone pointing at the sky it was using 18 satellites and giving an accurate location and even height.

When things went downhill was when the GPS was in an outer pocket of my waterproof coat I was wearing. Every so often I checked the track it was creating and was shocked how out it was sometimes! It did a surprisingly poor job of recording exactly where I'd been. Also when I took it out my pocket at a known place it was often a good 30m or 40m out.

One more thing. How do you handle lack of light sensor/auto brightness?

Hello,

The only thing right is the phone memory (about 850 Mo free) ... it's very small and the only solution i've found is the "root" of the phone for moving my apps on ext micro sd card (realised with Kingo android root, and adding SuperSu, Link2sd, Foldermount, for manage apps).
The "root" of the phone is not very difficult but it's important to know that warranty is lost after done ... ( unroot is possible by flashing original rom)

Wrong, just necessary for the apps (camera) to change saving access and point a other (new) correct folder on ext sd card.

Wrong, TrekBuddy work fine on S7710 but need (like many other phones) after installation to create or copy and paste manualy the Trekbuddy folder from phone memory to ext sd card ... after done, just change access for data dir and folder maps in TB settings and it's OK ... nothing more to do ! TB updates will go after in the new good folder.

I don't understand because i didn't have any problem of accuracy ... for me, accuracy is often about 3/4 meters and the fix is more quickly (some sec) than my old B2710 (sometimes some minutes ...)

There is possibility to use in some apps light sensor/auto brightness but not with Trekbuddy. Since TB v1.30 there is 4 brightness level (direct command) for TB android or brightness could be change with the notification bar of the phone.

Hope it can help you !
Regards
