Changelog
    - HGE-100 compatibility improved
    - fixed: tar on Siemens (workaround, slow)
    - fixed: wpt-eta calculation
    - fixed: log only valid option
    - new provider O2 Germany
    - Palm version (.prc) is now bound to manufacturer protection domain

wpt-eta/vmg

In addition to the fix (missing initialization->wrong value, sometimes), there is a simple short-term filter for vmg and eta that "smooths" it a bit. Also, when moving away from a wpt, eta shows "infinite" time 99:99:99

"O2 Germany" location provider

This is a toy. Cells of O2 operator in Germany brodcast their Gauss-Krueger coordinates. This provider acts as any other provider in TrekBuddy. Since it is quite special, it is not visible by default. To make it visible, put the following line to the JAD (and reinstall the midlet):
Code:
App-Flags: provider_o2_germany

Just do not expect high accuracy Wink

You mean start file browser in DataDir/maps when user selects LoadMap?

Yes, at the option LoadMap, or (and) by pressing "9" when TrekBuddy is running and map is loaded...

I tried the "O2 Germany" location provider,
and it sems to work!

o2 provides antenna coordinates only in case of GPRS,
not in case of UMTS.

Question:
The Location shown by TrekBuddy corresponds to the location of the GPRS antenna, right?
Or is there a way to derive a more accurate position from the signals of several antennas? (I doubt it ...).

Cool feature anyway --- thanks Kruch for this, and also for the Changelog in the wiki!

I've got this short log from Germany:

364602549639
364681549753
364602549639
...

You can see 1st and 3rd coordinates are the same. I thought like this: phones receive 1 to N cell position reports and I should calculate average values for x,y. So at present, there is a buffer for last 9 values, and a location shown is calculated as simple average value. I did not check thoroughly if this is something I could call triangulation... Confused

My current real position is about 1 km off the position derived from the o2 antenna coordinates.
If the strengths of the signals were available, they could be used as weights,
but still you'd need to know the power of the individual antennae.
More background information on that signal
(How often is the signal broadcasted?
Can you get info from antennae in range which the phone is not locked on? ...)
would be required to improve the algorithm.

So, I guess no need to spend too much effort into this as long as
a real GPS signal is available (like for the SXG75).

But for those who don't have access to a GPS signal it might be a good
chance to start using TrekBuddy ...

BTW, where would I find such info in the wiki:

I guess in a section describing what can be put optionally into the .jad file?

Log only valid works better, but empty track segments still present.

I'm also in Munich but only with debitel D1 SIM card. I wish I had O2 to try this out, but my secondary SIM card from O2 was set to inactive a long time ago, because I did not load often enough money on it Confused

@guest:

You could try with Genion Card S Online (once 3.95 Euros, that's it, no other obligations).

@kruch 1:

In settings, when switching to another provider (eg 'o2' to 'internal'),
'Tracklog' setting is reset to 'never'.
Is it by intention? My preference would be to keep the
'Tracklog' setting unchanged.

@kruch 2:

To be able to set the internal clock to the time derived from GPS
(as mentioned somewhere else) would really be a cool feature -
atomic clock on my mobile ...

- O2 Germany -
Perhaps it is possible to calculate a virtual distance from the transmitting power of the cellphone. So if you have three different coordinates, you are able to draw three circles with the virtual distance respectively as radius. These circles have their collective intersection in only one point: the current position.
One problem: I don't know how to get the necessary transmitting power data from the phone. Does anyone have some ideas?

That also will be inaccurate, because of 2 reasons:
1. the cellphone transmits only to one cell, in which it is registered at this moment
2. such positioning isn't accurate because of multipath, in urban area there is too much reflected signals, exact distance to cell antenna can't be determined, outside of the city - a single gsm cell can cover up to 35 km, as far as i know, depending on terrain conditions - mountains, etc, and again we have multipath and other fading issues.
bottom line: don't expect high accuracy Smile

p.s. excuse me for my bad english. great work, kruch! 10x for this cool tool Smile

After several times changing CMS layout with the key " 8 ", sometimes, in day mode (or night mode) some texts are painted with the color defined for the night mode (or day mode).

This happens in the models K750i and Nokia E61.

I will try to put a photo, in the emulator it does not happen.

I have managed to reproduce it several times, changing between several CMS designs that use different colors.
