Please let me know if there are any phones which does not allow to install TB with expired certificate even if you set date back. Current certificate expires first week of Jan 2014 and would love to no more spend $250 on renewal.

This applies to "java" phones only, Blackberry/Android/WP use different signing keys.

Hello kruch.

At least my Nokia 701 does not allow installing TB anymore, not even after setting the date to 2013. It says something like "this phone does not support the certificate used for signing the application".
(My free translation from a finnish error message, sorry for any mistakes).

I have set the phones application installation settings so that it should allow installing all applications and that does not help.

I hope you can figure out some solution to this.

Hi, a little update.

I managed to install TB to my Nokia 701 when I removed .jad file from the download folder of the PC and installed it as an untrusted application. The consequence is that the phone will ask permission to access users data and location every time when TB is started. And even if the phone is set to ask these permissions only at the 1st time application is used.

It's a little annoyance, but I can live with it.

Keep up the good work, kruch.

Will there be any workaround for installing the jad with expired certificates on newer Nokia phones?
I had the same "issue" on my N8 Belle refresh a couple of months ago when trying to reinstall an older version of TB.
It seems Belle doesn't support tricks like setting the date back ...

Indeed date trick does not work Sad I'll see if changing timestamp of jar file and files inside can help.

Anyway, on Nokias, TB can be installed as unsigned, and user data access permissions set to "Ask once".

I had the same problem with my Nokia 500 with Bell FP1.

Tried changing date, but no way... It says that the phone can't accept the certificate.

How can I install it as unsigned?

Without JAD file. Or delete all certificate and signature entries in the JAD file.

Delete last 5 lines in the jad file, ie. those starting with
MIDlet-Certificate and the one starting with MIDlet-Jar-RSA-SHA1.

I had this error on my E51 (Symbian OS S60v3 FP1) and I've managed with it using date trick. But not for installing from previously downloaded files - I changed year to 2013, downloaded and installed TrekBuddy using phone's web browser, and changed back to 2014. And it works, I can set permissions!
For me it is a bit strange, because I've flashed hacked firmware using PNHT method and it should install everything.

And what about certificate for Symbian service (fo TARed atlases)? When its certificate expires?

Symbian service is not signed, it can be installed unsigned when you have security hack installed, or ... omg they shut down Symbian Signed online service in January Evil or Very Mad
I will have to check again if tared maps can be read faster without the helper service Mad

Hi Kruch,

read that your "signing service" expired; thus I played around to install and use 1.26; while installing was a little bit tricky (uninstall prev. 1.2.5 necessary) using this software is not as comfortable, because on any start this version is requesting a lot of file and directory accesses and any action (e.g. reading a gpx or changing the map file) does the same. And the standard application settings do not allow to set "reading/processing user data" to "allowed" on unsigned apps. Any working idea?

Thus i downgraded to V1.2.5 at the moment.
