Just press Start. On touchscreen phones, tap in the bottom-left corner to show on-screen menu.

At least location provider status should change - top-right corner bullet icon should turn blue, then yellow then green. How long it takes depend on many things, after cold start it can takes minutes to get a fix. If the status is red after Start is pressed, pelase check Info->Technical->Provider Error.

TB is denied access to location info. You need to go to to device Options->Device->Application Management (this is with BB 9700 OS 6, not sure about Storm) and grant access to GPS (I think Connections/Location Data).
Usually when you try to access location for the first time, you are prompted to grant the access. Or when you install the application, you are prompted whether to set TB as trusted app or not. (it depends on OS version I guess...)
