I'm guessing this could be a way to send positions in real-time, much like Endomondo live tracking. If so,are there any plug-ins already working?
This would be fantastic as is really the only thing I miss in TB.
For long bike journeys solo would very much like to keep my tracks logged for an emergency case where they could check last point tracked or simply to let family check I'm doing ok without having to be interrupted by phone calls.
EDIT: I can see in example of wiki page it could probably send the data to livetrack24.com ,is this working already? |

I can't speak about the livetrack24 plugin as I didn't want to create and account just to test it as I'm unlikely to use it for real. However the plugin created / modified by McBlau here: http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6623&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=18
seems to work well - of course it won't suit those who don't have their own server with php mySQL etc but it's a nice addition to TB for those that do... |

| The example in wiki is very simple but working, I used it to test HECL http command, I made several tracks with it on test.livetrack24.com. |

I tried using the example in wiki:
resgistered in livetrack24 and from what I've seen it really sounds like everything I was looking for:
-chances to customize alerts and even send them to other people phones by SMS with a "programable" event: faling to comunicate,etc....
I saved the plugin example with the same name specified in wiki, only replaced username and password for the one I registered to in livetrack24.
Also have to enable it from configurations first every time as the changes dont seem to be persistent. And it shows: "unknown/live.leo.hcl"
I enable it and then start it but it shows and orange sign with an exclamation mark,if I press there it allways shows:
Status OK

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Ty in advance. |

Strange... To persist changes, you need to select OK in Plugins section and then Save in Settings.
But there is some problem in loading or processing the script on your phone... ... what kind of phone are you using? |

Its a Samsung s5620 Monte
When I mean its not persistent is only when I quit TB and then start it again later. Every time I start TB have to enable plug-in, and its all okay, I just dont know what to make of the orange status indicator with an exclamation mark as in the wiki there's only grey, green and red status
Also on livetrack24 cant see any information regarding my track so I assume something isnt working, any idea how can I "debug" it?Is there any file where the output of plug-in is recorded?

Another user reported similar problem caused by saving plugin code, in B2710.
There is link to plugin file, unzip it and try again
http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/download.php?id=4629
Search for trails, if you are using default url in plugin settings
http://test.livetrack24.com/tracks/
In B2710 there is problem in editing interval, no way to change it.
Maybe something similar like numeric input setting. |

If the plugin is in error state, it will not receive any events (start tracking, location updated etc).
Ad Interval change - numeric input hack option is not taken into account in current version Will be fixed in 1.1.2. |

Tks a bunch Ranger. That did the trick.
I think it was probably some weird thing with macosx default text editor, now I can acess plugin configuration pane and it shows as green.Have to dwell a little more in the control of the site/plugin but I'm pretty sure everything is ok now.
TB rocks
EDIT: It does work!It showed up but as guest on http://test.livetrack24.com/tracks/
I registered in www.livetrack24.com, could be they are diferent?Or maybe test server doesnt track users?I'll try to change the parameters in plug-in to use www.livetrack24.com to see if it shows up with my user name
EDIT2: Gonna play with it to see how it works, will post conclusions tomorrow.
Ty very much for all the help. |

Well, could be that anyway or maybe it required some time connect or that you created a profile for your tracks, either way its working just fine now.
Not related: I use only virtual credit card over the internet but turns out paypal isnt very fund on them.Anyway I could pay you a few beers?
Maybe IBAN? If so: curto(at)netc.pt |

The sample plugin for LiveTrack24 is fully automatic. It may not be extactly what someone wants - you may not want to be live-tracked every time, or you may not want the whole track to be live-tracked etc. The plugin can be modified to be semiautomatic
- onTrackingStart/Stop empty
- implement custom actions to open/close track and to set some flag
- check the flag in onLocationUpdated
or completely manual by not implementing onLocationUpdated at all, and having custom action to send updates to the server when you want. |

The way it is is just fine, I enable/disable plugin before starting according to my needs.
On another note: my phone carrier charges a daily fee for internet on pre-paid phones, but with a daily limit of 10MB, I dont need updates every minute so can change it to something else (say 3 or 4 minutes), would the traffic generated in a 12h trip with updates every 3 minutes exceed 10MB?
Or, have any idea how many kb would (roughly) be expected the plugin to use on every update? (20,40,60?)
EDIT:Have found the answer in their cost simulation page:
http://test.livetrack24.com/clients/gprs_calculator
With "http" updates every 2 minutes they say its about 13Kb/h. |
