via google:

"Supported by GDAL for read access. This format is used in maps issued by the swedish organization Lantmäteriet. Supports versions 1, 2 and 3 of the RIK format, but only 8 bits per pixel."

http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/

Found win32 binaries (including gdal_translate, which looks promissing): http://download.osgeo.org/gdal/win32/gdalwin32exe142.zip

I have no .rik sample - could not try it...

With
Code:
gdal_translate.exe -of PNG "I - Gotlands lan.rik" test.png

I got nice PNG. Without calibration. It seems to be the smallest map from the set you pointed me to, yet it is 16750x34250 Shocked This will kill my poor app Confused

Sure. Maybe that converting tool can export selected regions. You'll have to calibrate each one, though...

Maybe it is too big. Could you try Gotlands map png? Just to be sure that the Ozi you use is ok; it loads ok on my PC...

At the end, you may have to cut those big maps to smaller ones and calibrate them one by one in Ozi; gdal_translate seems to be quite powerful tool, eg. with additional param -srcwin 10000 10000 4096 4096 you can get 4096x4096 map that starts at offset 10000 both in x and y coordinates, etc.
