|
|
Hi All,
I am new to trek buddy, and I am having trouble viewing maps on my sony ericsson w995. First, I tried downloading a pre-created TB singapore map from the maps wiki (http://wiki.trekbuddy.net/index.php/Maps#Europe_.28various_topo.29). TB was unable to recognize this file probably because it was in ".rar" format. I unpacked and copied over the directories: sing12, sing12.map and sing12.set (where sing12 is the folder containing .png files). This time I was able to open the map (and given the option to make it my default map, so I think it was recognized correctly) but all that appeared was a black screen. I tried scrolling and found that the black screen consists of black tiles outlined in grey. I scrolled as far as I was allowed in all 4 directions, but again nothing but a black screen.
I thought maybe since I am in Boulder, CO and not Singapore, that this might be the problem? I used Googleak.NET to create a map of boulder that included my current location. Again, I had 3 file sets: boulder, boulder.map and boulder.set that I transferred to my phone. Again, I was able to open the file boulder.map, but again there was just a black screen.
One thing is that my cell phone does not have an active sim card, however the inactive sim card allows gps tracking. I thought that trek buddy would work without an internet connection, but perhaps this is not the case?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Problem with map should be not related to inactive sim or such. It looks as if for some unknown reason TB is not able to find map tiles (listed in .set file) in the set subfolder, which is weird.
Can Googleak.NET create tar-ed map (= one big file where calibration is packed together with tiles)? SE phones handles tar-ed maps very good, so you could try it, because right now I have no idea why you have troubles with unpacked maps... |
