trekbuddy runs on HTC HD2 (Leo) pretty good, but you have to solve three problems:

1. With the original java-emulator installed on HD2 trekbuddy doesn't work: - Error: Cant find Data Dir. After installation of Esmertec.Jbed.20080912.5.1.SP trekbuddy works.

2. When browsing the map after few seconds I got always a outofmemory error. To solve the problem you have to adjust the registry to increase the buffer of java-emulator to 4 MB or better 8 MB. See details in an older post. There is also a cab-file doing the job for you.

3. HD2 deactivates the GPS-Chip when you switch off the display. You have to install a software that keeps the device running. I use LockTouchPro (freeware). There is a setting preventing the device going into standby.

Don't forget to check "background running“ in Jbed

Haven't checked how long trekbuddy runs with full charged battery yet.

Edit:
Today I tested a battery time: It was a 3 h hike. The battery went from 88% to 66% (I checked my location on the map about every 15 min, and had a reboot after a system-freeze). So the battery time is over 10 h when fully carged.
I think, it is not bad and if you consider to buy, hopefully soon available, stronger battery you may expect 15 - 20 h working time.
You can extend the working time of your system by using an external GPS receiver.

Hi!

I´ve got trekbuddy on HD2 running. My problem ist that GPS is not running. I choosed in "position" "data" not "simulator" on COM4 with 9600 baud.
I also tried GPSPortPPC but it doesnt work.

You got your location by GPS showed?

Thanks!

Stefan

Hello,

thank you for the very usefull hints!

"I use LockTouchPro (freeware)" you wrote.
I was seaching for this cab-file in the internet without succcess. Could you please give a link to it?

Another question. You suggested to use an external Gps-receiver.
I was using an external one with my old SE-phone via bluetooth. But how it works with HTC HD2?

TB works fairly well with datastream and internal gps-device, but I would prefere to use an external device.

In the configuration menu of Trekkbuddy I can only find the options: internal / datastream / simulator and not as before, as I was using my old phone, the option bluetooth.

B.t.w. I'm a technical dilettante and even Windows Mobile is new for me (and my English is [...]).

I can confirm full functionality on HTC HD2. I also confirm this specific problem in standby. I am using program Marathon to keep GPS active in standby.
