How to plan TrekBuddy routes in GoogleMaps with Get Directions

1. To do it, GMapToGPX browser extension is nedded. You can find it here
http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx
and install as described.
2. Start GM and use Get Directions as usual, just write start point and end point addresses to the fields (in form "street nr, city, country").
When directions shows on screen, just start GMapToGPX from Favorites (or bookmark taskbar in Firefox).
In new window you will see prepared route as text. Copy it to Notepad and save to file with extension .gpx, using UTF-8 format for SE phones or ANSI for Nokia.
3.Route file is ready to use in TB, just copy it to Wpts directory. Enjoy.

For experienced users.
If you are not satisfied with standard GM route, FULL track option in GMapToGP gives a best route shape, but next additional corrections in map editor and by hand to route conversion are needed.

Heh just started to write a short guide about it;

Anyway since it already had been written let me just add GPS Trackmaker is a nice app for track correction. However I'm not able to display a map as background for the route

Thank you for your documentation! Normal routes can be loaded, but with full track option Trekbuddy (today's beta 0.9.57) claims there are no waypoints in the file. Has this to do with the needed corrections or is it a bug?

BTW it would be nice if Trekbuddy would be able to load FULL track option files. The additional info could be used to draw a more detailed route, not for routing.

No, it is not bug. You need to convert track to route, if you decided to use it.
Using tracks directly was already discussed on forum, we will see.
