And how it will look fieldnotes? Those links in the form of arrows looking better than points, I can see, which is active Smile

Fieldnotes could look as in HandyGeocaching and list of WPT is nice, too. There are good icons before name of WPT or fieldnotes.

Hi,
I have just tried this new version. It is great that long listings are displayed on a new screen. But this listings can be still very long. I am really missing page up / page down. Please, could you make the left and right arrow to do that in the next version? It would be very useful.

could we please have on screen keyboard back for nokia 5800!!!!!!!!!!! my friend only has one hand and trekbuddy is useless on n97 without it

also new tb service does not work on 5800 back light stays the same

loading waypoints is now slower than 92 version

as for on demand parsing for most geocaching use, 500 caches are loaded. it is much better to wait an extra 1 second and have all the wpt parsed on load, than to wait 1 second everytime to load a wpt in the file, if all tags were parsed <groundspeak:short_description html="True">included then this may work better but the option to turn this off solves this

Prosim opravte tuto drobnou chybu. Jiste to nebude moc prace.
Dekuji za perfektni program a vasi praci na nem.

@billy06

Removing Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keypad: no from JAD file does not help with onscreen keyboard?

Of course gpx loading is slower then before, since logs weren't parsed before. Lazy parsing is intended for users trying to load huge GPX files (especially with large logs). It is ok to have it turned off.

Sorry about the backlight, now it works just fine on E60 and M600, which are the devices I could test it on... I do not have any 5th device ... Sad "back light stays the same" - you mean no 10-25-50-100-off? What does it do exactly? Does it at least turns on and off correctly?

@PetrX

i will try removing from the jad for keyboard, as for backlight phone says 10% 50% etc but light level stays the same
we have been very busy lately with geocaching and our website, have been using version 92 which worked perfectly all last week while on our tour Smile , hope to have more time this week to test 96 , looking forward to links in gpx will these be offline as well as online? being able to link to offline htm would be very handy

Had to reconfigure everything again after updating on my BB Bold 9000 Sad

Shouldn't location timings default to 1,-1,-1 on BB devices now?

Thanks
Stefan

It is interesting.

Hello kruch,

a few days ago I updated Trekbuddy to version 0.9.96 and the helper application to version 0.6.0 on my Nokia E51 with Symbian S60 3rd FP1(SW:300.34.56).
I use a atlas, which is created by the (Mobile) Atlas Creator (1.5 and/or 1.7).
The atlas has round about 50.000 tiles in 8 layers, zoom level 10 to 17.

Until I updated to the latest version, I used Trekbuddy 0.9.87 and the helper application 0.5.2 and everything worked very well.

Now I start Trekbuddy and the app needs 30 seconds to load the first tile.
I start with zoom level 14, 713 tiles and 7936x5888px. If I move on the map, the tiles load in 15 to 25 seconds. When I open the layer with zoom level 16 (11040 tiles and 30720x23552px), a tile needs more than 7 minutes.

With the 0.9.87 version my phone loads the tiles in 1 to 3 seconds, no matter which layer/zoom level I opened.

I hope you can tell me, what went wrong?

Best regards

PS.: I tried a downgrade to 0.9.87, but suddenly I got an unspecified error message, which tells me "something wrong with the certificate". The installation didn't finish.

The 0.9.90 version was the last in which tared maps and backlight control worked Sad (I had installed TrekBuddyService). 0.9.91, 0.9.92, 0.9.93, 0.9.94 and 0.9.95 didn't work (screensaver was running while backlight was turned on and program was frozen while I was trying to move the map - Nokia N95). In this versions TrekBuddy event didn't ask for access to network during startup (I usually forgot to turn these questions off after installation), so it couldn't use TrekBuddyService. But now 0.9.96 beta with new TrekBuddyService works Very Happy ! Thanks, Kruch!

Now I've downloaded version 0.9.96 and again - TrekBuddy doesn't ask for access to network during startup, screensaver is running while backlight is turned on and program is frozen while I'm trying to move the map.

You've got the same problem. Try installing 0.9.96 beta from http://www.trekbuddy.net/beta/2010-03-22/index.php or 0.9.90 - but you have to set date in your phone to 2009.

Again, if you want to use this version, you have to set the proper date (I think 2009).

@Kruch
I played a bit with a-gps off option. In JP-8 it doesn't work as should.
Scenario to reproduce:
- install 0.996 version (with this option off) and ie 0.095 (without option)
- start 0.996 with a-gps off and start gps; next exit app
- start 0.995 without a-gps support, phone doesn't try to connect to internet as should.
Power-off returns phone to normal a-gps functions in 0.995.

@owienie,user1 I really have no idea why 0996 does not connect tbsvc, it is as if you either did not install symbian version, or as if network access was not allowed for TB in suite settings...

This build shows error when accessing tbsvc and it is not accessible:

http://www.trekbuddy.net/beta/2010-04-06/trekbuddy-symbian.jad
http://www.trekbuddy.net/beta/2010-04-06/trekbuddy-symbian.jar

@shen I did not test it extensively enough... so you think it is OK? I'll gladly fix in the next version.

@kruch & user1

I solved the problem, which was my mistake.

Thanks a lot user1, yesterday I tested all your suggestions. And they all worked fine. Thank you very much!

But it was kruch who brought me the solution.

kruch wrote:

I downloaded the standard version for my SonyEricsson W910i and the standard symbian for my E51. As I installed the Trekbuddy on my symbian, I chose the wrong version. And after installation inside Trekbuddy I didn't see it.

The 0.9.96 version works now very fine and very fast, much faster than 0.9.87. The tiles load never longer than 1 second. I also tested the beta-version, it works as well as 0.9.96.

Sorry for all the trouble I made.
And thanks a lot.
