hi,

Yes, it works on s5620 (monte).

Im using it for few days and works great.

But you must be patient when TB loads map, or when calculates the position(cold gps)- it takes several minutes. After that works fast and stable:)

Hi Kruch,

Thanks for the info! I have successfully downloaded and installed TB on my Monte. To my surprise, TB could not get any GPS signal at all

I check with Samsung, they comment that S5620 doesn't come with build in GPS, which puzzled me even more...

I thought it came with GPS. Anybody using S5620 with GPS?

Are you sure that you use proper command, I mean loading map with Load Map and loading atlas with Load Atlas?

Yes, I am sure, I was trying both command. I think, it can be problem with size of " *.tar" file, because when I am loading files size about 1MB everything is OK, but if file is larger e.g. 9MB arises problem. Yesterday I had problem: java.lang.OutOfMemory, is it possible to solve this problem ?

v0998 will has new option for controlling memory consumption of tar-ed maps: Settings->Misc->lowemem I/O. Most users should leave this option off. But it may solve OutOfMemory errors, at lleast on Samsung S5230 it did for me.

Negative effect of this option is map scrolling performance drop. After a few days of tweaking and testing TB on Samsung S5230, I would recommend to use unpacked maps. But I leave the choice up to users...

I tried this version on my S8300, but unfortunately the lowmem IO option only made the maps very, very slow (in some cases it did not complete the loading of the tiles). The out of memory error still occured plus another error about negative array index... Sad

I use Monte, the GPS is working, settings-> location: try assisted GPS,
settings->misc: safe renderer, forced CG, large atlases
and the map size in atlas creator 15000, then it will work with tared maps.
Question: Why i have to wait 6-7 minutes to activate GPS? In the phone setting you can see your position, approx in a half minute. But in Trekbuddy i have to wait a lot of minutes. Dear kruch, some idee?

Nothing happened with high power usage.
It's interesting, because the originally installed Google maps needs
~ 10 minutes too to access the GPS.
But i'he tried one more time, in phone setting->GSP setting->gps postion
and in less then a half minute it find 6 satellites and told me the position.
I hope maybe will be some solution.

Best wishes
