This happens if you draw a route in map calibrator. After doing so, do not forget to edit them like R1, R2 or W1, W2 and do not forget to delete some routepoints with the help of waypoint manager icon - the flag icon on the toolbar- Very Happy

[...... (where is point position ? on left or right label side ? or in point where underline begins ?)[/quote]

The wpt position is exactly the point where the underline begins

Sorry qw12, i don't understand what you tried to say.
Map Calibrator isn't my favourite routes tool Surprised Doesn't matter.
Question was what is better to represent route not active points. Markers or labels ? In my opinion label itself don't give easy interpretation of point position.

I just offered a solution to the question which Nolies asked. Because he draw the route on mapcalibrator. With less waypoints you can see the route better as a tiny red line on your map loaded to tb. But of course this is not the only way. There would be a lot of different ideas.

@Ranger: What is your favourite route tool? Can somebody give a hint how to create routes?
I propose to display label AND marker only for the active waypoint, for the others only the markers.. May be the label could appear if one moves the crosshair to a waypoint, then it should be possible to edit that selected waypoint..
In CMS it should be possible to display the name of the active waypoint, and the time needed to reach that point (ETE, estimated time enroute).
What about recording also the altitude of a waypoint? then height differences could be shown too.. Wink

I create routes in mapcalibrator. After loading my map, I draw a route with the mouse. The program gives a lot of points and if you load it to your phone without editing it seems as a chaos as can be seen in the 5th page which nolies had sent. With the waypoint manager tool after deleting some points (because they are too close to each other and create chaos on the map) I also shorten the names of the waypoints like R1 R2. After loading the *.gpx file to wpts folder in data directory. You can open it in TB. You can see the route as R1………………..R2……………….R3. There is a tiny red line consisting from red dots showing the route between waypoints. And the active waypoint is seen as a red circle. My screenshot is on page 5. There you can see R15, R16 and R17 and the active wpt is R17.You can also see the line made from red dots indicating your route. In my opinion this way is very good and easy. Thanks to Kruch and everyone who had collaborated in improving TB.

Mostly I'm using OziE and GPS Babel for this task. But what can be good for TB routes creation I will know better when it will be finished Cool
In general, it is good to build and check routes with used mapping tool.

I plan to test "auto adjusting" of route presentation

- of course each wpt must have a clear mark; like the one in attached sample (+coloured according to Ranger's suggestion)
- if labels fits well (there's anought distance between all of them), show them all
- if not, label for active wpt will only be shown as wowi suggest, when user positions crosshair over poi mark, its label will be tempoarailiy shown

@Kruch
In todays version I found problem with travelled markers, after switching map to another, markers changed from green to red. I used custom markers for test.

Selecting 'stop' from wpt menu cause nullpoint exception (but this is only a dev version). Could be set in configuration menu if all wpt names are displayed/only active one/active one and all green?

Next pictures from routing tests on generic maps.
I hope, that wpts connecting lines will work in routing mode only, in navigation to wpt mode are not needed.

Sure.

Here's today's build. I hope to have fixed NPE when stopping navigation, wpts status reset after map switch, moving map mode indication, more robust BT/Serial provider stopping, ...

And - more contrast labels for pois (with different font than before) + new poi marks + ability to switch poi "labeling mode".

You know you switch crosshair background with '0' (day/night mode switch). Now, in map viewing screen, when you press '*' (shortly, to not to trigger keyboard locking), then with '0' you can switch between: showing current wpt name/all wpts names/current wpt comment or description/all wpts comment or description. If you press '*' again, you can change crosshair bg again and so on.

If wpt does not have cmt or desc, name is shown.

SPAM, i had a lot to read now after my holidays Smile

because of the waypoint naming problem i would suggest to limit the number of characters for a waypoint to 5 or 6. so even with a lot of waypoints the text on planview becomes not to much...

Smile In the first round (0.9.57), route navigation will only make it to map screen - so that people can gather and provide feedback; ARC/Nav/... and all those flight navigation screens you shared with us will surely be inspiration for such screen(s) in TB Wink
