I only worry what pavelh will say about Exit/Cancel buttons on SE phone

On SE W910i now Cancel works even if right button description is not present, as it was earlier. Maybe only "Cancel" text could be added.

Refered TB freezing after Stop seems to be OK.

May I remember you to put a visible warning on the compass screen if north locking is active? Wink
this would be very handy !
using nokia 5800 using the styles works well, but finger input does not its fine for map scrolling but button pressing not so , would it be easy to adjust this? (running latest 5800 firmware version as this was a problem with 5800 earler firmware) i understand that this may affect the map scrolling as it uses the same screen area, so if not a easy fix then maybe a double click for menus in a future version would help

Hi,

I tired the aug 30 version on Nokia 3120 Classic.
Blacklight not ok, with key "3" not working properly. Older (i think 0.9.84) version is ok. The key sometimes working, but often no change the blacklight, same message (for example 10%) appers and light is same.

I have memory problem with large tarred atlas. The new version is better, than older version (0.9.84) but not understand, what is the problem. The crash randomly with time. Without CMS and language file, near stable. But the used memory often, long time 500-800Kbyte, but sometimes only 50-200 kbyte without CMS and language file. I think with CMS and language file + 50-200Kbyte not enought. Large atlases on, Force GC too.

I am not sure either. Just one thing to note: my K800i has a dedicated physical "Back" button, which works in TB so I did not even feel the need to have a Cancel function on one of the softkeys.

However my C905 does not have one -- and I am in fact unable to close the menu bar there.

K550 and K800i is based on the older SE platform. For java application they used two softkey + back button.
C702 and C905 is based on a newer platform. They use two softkeys + OK button (on the previous phones, ok button has always the same function as left soft key). The back button was removed (usually right soft key substitute it).
This change was really good. I had K750i and upraged to C702 latter and usability of Java applications increased rapidly.
So maybe this causes that TB behaves on the both phones differently.

Hmm... so the latest build is fine? What commands are bound to softkeys and OK button now?
Doesn't C button act as Cancel buttonon these new devices?

I beg to differ Smile I barely use the C905 due to this change, I can't seem to be able to switch from my trusty K800i.

Anyway, very informative, thanks!

No, "C" does not act as cancel. I am unable to hide the menu in C905.

So on these Cxxx phones you have the first TB positive commands on middle and right softkey (Start, Load Map?), and expandable Options menu on the left softkey?

I have installed and tried the last reupoloaded build. Exit button is missing now. Basically, the situation is the same as in the previous versions of TrekBuddy - cancel button is not visible and mostly it doesn't work correctly.

There are some examples of key functions on Cxxx phones in TrekBuddy:

On the map screen after pressing OK:
left soft key - Options (= main menu)
ok - Start GPS
right soft key - there should be cancel, there was Exit in the previous buid.

On the waypoint details screen:
left soft key - Options (opens menu with route along, route back, go to, edit and delete)
ok - Navigate to
right soft key - close

In the options when there is a textbox:
left - OK
middle - Edit
right - Close
There can be seen the advantage of this new system. On K750i in options, ok or left key caused editing the text and the right soft key opened a menu with OK and Close items. On Cxxx phones there is no need to open extra menu if I want to confirm or cancel the dialog.

and with the latest there is... what? I understood that Exit was wrong (?), but there is no negative action related to main screen that could be mapped to right soft key other than Exit...

That's what it looks like on C905 when I press the left soft key in the map screen.

The interesting things are:
- the thing below Start (this is exactly how it looks on the phone, too),
- that "Options" is in my phone lang (I use non-localized version of TB)

In the latest build there is a button without any label as it can be seen in the picture by rt. It behaves like cancel, but only sometimes.

To rt: The thing under "Start" is the rest of the label ("GPS"). You are using a theme with quite bold font so the label was splitted into two lines.
