Still no luck with my TAC-Atlas (which, as said before, worked with version 0.87).

Hi Kruch
I see that you fixed some issues from 87->88 and even if this release is claimed buggy I will try to install the latest beta and see how it's working.
What was not clear enough in last version was wether TrekBuddy service is needed any more or not. I have a SE P1i with Symbian. You introduced the TrekBuddy service to sustain better control of backlight and offer different levels of backlight. Before that Backlight was working and I did not really make use of the new levels below 100%. So I am happy if I can lock backlight to 100% without the TrekBuddy Service. Can you please state in your release mail;
- Do you make use at all of TrekBuddy symbian service in new release?
- If you do make use of the service, is the service optional or mandatory if you just wish to "lock the backlight" on the device, from TrekBuddy
Best regards

OK. Everything seems working now (and faster in emulation mode). Of course with TrekBuddy service, as N95 is FP1. |

@tomten use 2009-08-24 build (link in one of my previous posts)
Backligh and S60/UIQ - the service is still needed, unfortunately; Nokia claimed some changes in documentation for S60 3rd FP2+, but they did not prove to be true with real devices. Nothing has changed for older S60 and UIQ. |

Yes, I installed that build. I have some feedback.
The sorting seems to work better now, but the instant access to the waypoint list, by pressing 1 for a while, seems to be a bit troublesome. Even if mapscreen/compass seems to be constantly updating after holding the 1-button for a second or two, it takes 20-30 seconds before the waypoint list pops up. However, if I go to the list through the menus it comes up instantly. In version .87 I could use the "1" shortcut into the waypoint list without any delay.

OK. Thank you for the information. The Backlight function seems to work again with the .88 version, but one question! The backlight function worked fine on P1i some version before you deployed the TrekBuddy service app - but you could not set the backlight level though, only fixed to 100%. However, I think that was good and I really did not like to have the TrekBuddy background service running separately. Is there a way for TrekBuddy to support both methods - if service is running, then use it, if not, try use the old Backlight method? Anyway, maybe the service is used for more than just the backlight, but if not it would be nice to uninstall the service and be able to use backlight as before...
And yes, as other people has noticed the click-and-drag feature for the map is awesome, but seems slower in .88 than in .87.
Thank you, Kruch, for your attention.
Best regards

@tomten if only I remembered in what version backlight worked (although just with on/off levels) without the service on UIQ...
The service helps TB with 1) backlight, and 2) tar-ed maps |

@shen, billy06 (and others)
Is there any usecase when a user would need to mix custom (map pointer position) and recorded (real gps position) in one file? |

For Geocaching: Yes. But anyway I normally use "Add Custom" if I want to save the actual position as the map pointer normally at the actual position.
It would be ideal if one could store any kind of WPT to any file.
