Here is a new tool to create atlas for TrekBuddy from jpg images.

http://tb.qualicarte.fr

I try to make it simple :

1 - Send the image (.jpg only, <~1Mo)

2 - Place the three points on your map and the three points corresponding on the GoogleMap (match the colors). Two points is not enough. The precision of the position of the points gives the precision of the calibration. Points should preferably be placed as far as possible.

Right click on the gmap and on the jpeg map shows a context menu. This menu lets you :
- set the calibration point where you clicked,
- pan the map to where you clicked.

Some forget to place three points on each maps, then the map cannot be setted up neatly.

3 - Click on the button... Wink

The treatment can take a long time. You will receive a zip file with the atlas of your image.

4- Unzip it.

5- Copy the folder (you can rename it) on your mobile.

The cutting of the tiles is the same than google. This means that you can load then on a google map.

I have just put it online, thank you to tell me the bugs that you found.

This bug is not a bug. The zip file is made with a Debian package but the zip file is not well reconized by windows. It works well on Mac OSX.

Great utility - the zip issue is as follows: the Zip file created seems to be incompatible with the unzip performed by Windows Explorer at least on my version of Windows Vista. Downloading a free unzip utility and using that fixed the problem.

It's also worth mentioning that in Step 5, the cr.tba file is needed in the atlas folder too as described in http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21
