Hi all. I am now in the market for a new mobile, and having TrekBuddy running on it is one of the main factors (the main problem with and .).
My two main choices now are the Onmia or the new HTC Dream (is coming soon to Spain, and I have a lot of points) an Android one. I do not know if TrekBuddy could run in the Android. Is there any info about that?

I tried it and it sucks. Cannot speak about the real devices, of course.

kruch is there any way you can port this app over to android? my SE w760i just died on me and i like the t-mobile g1, but there is nothing even remotely similar for android. i would be willing to pay for this app on android, and i'm sure many other would as well. keep up the good work!

I hope for a good j2me API emulator (like http://microemu.blogspot.com/2008/11/running-java-me-applications-on-android.html) or runner (like http://www.netmite.com/android/index.html) to be available soon.

I tried the runner in simulator (from Anroid SDK) and it sucked , but I do not know if it is the runner or simulator that sucks.

Good news! TrekBuddy works in the J2ME emulator on the G1. However, I get a bluetooth error when I try to open custom maps. If anyone has info on how to get past this, please let me know.

Which emulator version? And how did you run TB? I'd love to try it myself Smile

I converted the TrekBuddy .jad into a .apk file for G1 using the netmite website, then I used the J2ME manager from the netmite site to run it on the G1. The website for the .apk creator and the J2ME manager: http://www.netmite.com/android/index.html

I would attach the .apk file, but it is not allowed as per the forum rules.

To keep everyone updated as to the progress of TB on G1.. I have submitted the .apk to someone at netmite.com. They are investigating the error that occurs when trying to load atlases/maps.

I've tweaked latest TB to run in G1 emu (both v1.1 and 1.5) and got the two basic functions work - maps work, internal GPS works.

- netmite runner does not work with v1.5
- apk created with microemu (it has midp-android emulation layer) runs both in 1.1 and 1.5

I'll do a few little tests, and then try to find someone with real G1... is there anyone out there? Wink

I have G1 working with android 1.5. This is sandard phone, not developer version. I Have been already testing Naviexpert Beta for android and it is ok.
AS about TrekBuddy - I am not experienced user so sorry in advance for some stupid questions:)
