|
|
Hello world!
I am creating new applications to support TB on PC.
Here is home page http://tbmapper.next176.sk/?
It now knows:
-Export maps and atlases for Trekbuddy
-Open .map (OZI) and .tba (TB Atlas) files
-Switching beetween opened maps - areas
-Display calibration points
My next imagines
-Allow export .tar maps and atlases
-Manage your waypoing and tracelogs from TB
-Allow to set calibration points
-Support more formats
What do you mean about this application ? It's good idea or not?
Or any tips?

First thanks for this kind of aplication.
Unfortunately when I tried to open .map file of shocart topo maps it ended with this error. TB works with shocarts without problems. |
Hi Kehil
I am developing this applications application from last weekend =) There is a lot of things to do .. =) I released it, because I want to know If world wants this application.. Because there is some applications as OZI or MapCutter, which wants to do different things better ... But my project is targeting to people who don't want to learn different applications and wants to do things easy .. I hope it will be available soon..
Now I am working on support MAPS and ATLASES in TAR format (open and export too). Please could you send me (trekbuddy @ next176 . sk) your MAP file, or whole MAP - Then it will be easy to remove error you got from TBMapper.

Great!!! I saw wishlist in your website! hope to see googlemaps working with your application
I think that GoogleDownload.java sources of our friend (in the other topic) could help you to do that feature!!!

Could we discuss about this ? what is your idea about implementation level ?
1. TBmapper could cooperate as frontend with GoogleDownload.java
2. or some deeper intergration google maps API to TBMapper ?
Now I don't have exact idea yet. Do you want to use googlemaps for unknown areas, or to get "satelite" images for your existing atlases? Do you want to use google maps for viewing areas, tracelogs, or use it to export maps for TB?

The 2nd option is preferred, but a simple frontend would be great the same! I use GoogleDownload to create Atlas for TB..it works very good, you simply have to tell him coordinates of the area, dimension of maps you want, dimension of slice you want and google zoom level! Then it create atlas for Trekbuddy....But you need to open other tools to exactly find coordinates and try various time to find the correct level of zoom!
A graphical frontend (in which you can see what you are doing) with some other cool options would be a big step to create atlas for trekbuddy in an easy way!

OK, I will try to implement something.. We could start with 1st option (what will be easier).
There is one item with highest priority (export tar maps&atlases - today I programmed open TAR atlases:-) ). Next I will start with "manage tracelogs" and "google maps frontend".

I've just tried...does TB works with TAR file then? Is it slower than normal files?

I don't know if it's faster.. =) It's question for Kruch.
TAR-ed file is for phone which require confirmation for every file access. It's file to confirm once for 1 map that xxxx times in every map tile.
Some people are using only TARed, and this option in TBmapper is for them .. also non-TAR-ed map or atlas is supported too .. (there is checkbox option)
