Kruch I'm having a problem on k750 similar to lambdacpap's problem.
my GPS is OnCourse

When I choose "start" TB makes a connection with GPS and GPS's bluetooth light starts flashing, but TB still shows a blue ball in the top right corner, instead of orange when I'm indoor, and doesn't show green ball and my position when I'm outdoor and GPS has sattelites visible. And selecting "stop" from the menu doesn't do anything.

It was fine with v79, but v81 is useless for me, tough I like new wpt list and "Power Save" features.

now I've installed v79 again, and it shows orange ball when I connect to GPS (I'm inside now), I've just noticed that "stop" again has no effect, though I don't remember if there was such thing before.

One more interesting thing

Yersterday I was able to use v81 with GPS, but that was mi friend's (Holux)

So what's the reason that I can't use my GPS, that I've been able to use many months?

No idea... could you make a NMEA with the GPS that does not work well with TB?

Hello, I love using this tool!

On a geocaching tour I once needed compass degree values (e.g. 68°), so I had to install a further handy tool to get this information.
Would it be possible to display this value in the "arrow" window? For example, above the POI distance? I suppose, the GPS mouse deliveries this information, doesn't it?

Maybe I can already activate this value somehow in the preferences - but I don't know how Embarassed

Thank you!

Kruch I've now noticed that none of my gps apps work Sad this is my GPS' fault, it seems damaged.
I've tried to create nmea log and TB created a an empty file.
What could happen here? Doesn't GPS send any information? Or it could send some undefined symbols via bluetooth?

My GPS' bluetooth works, it is dicoverable and can be paired.
Yesterday it seemed that GPS works too, because green light did flash (it means connected to sattelites) outdoors, and was on constantly indoors (looking for sat. connection), but today the green light is off.

Also TB shows red 'R' on the left side of the ball, what does this mean?

I'm again a little late trying this new version (I don't really know if some of these topics have alread been discussed), but thank you a lot for these incredible features. I just bought a premium membership from Groundspeak and now I'm able to take the highest possible advantage of it! This is also a great opportunity to expedite paperless caching. Thank you!

The waypoint solution is even better than I expected it to be. If it just could have one more detail of showing also the cache container size (micro, small, regular, large) from the .gpx-file - I think it should be included in the file, the geocachers like me would like a lot.

Also one suggestion: could the waypoints-"browser" be one of the pages that can be cycled with the #-button. Then it could be open and ready for quick glimpses among navigating. (this might, of course, be already under the line "UI engine improvements")

Please, add "3806=power save" text to language.en_US.txt file in Wiki. This text is missing, and my Spanish translation is incomplete. Rolling Eyes

Code:
3804=1-tile scroll
3805=large atlases

# info commands
4000=Technical

Also, delete "1383=NMEA Playback" text, duplicated.
Code:
1382=NO WPT
1383=NMEA Playback
1383=NMEA Playback
1384=Received location info from:

PostPosted: Mon Sep 08, 2008 9:52 am    Post subject: A major bug in 0.9.81 (crucial for geocaching) !!! Reply with quote

Yesterday I found a major bug in the 0.9.81 version which is crucial for geocaching Exclamation
The bug can cause a wrong navigation by hundreds of meters (which happened to me yesterday) !

The essence of the bug seems to be a wrong conversion between various formats of GPS coordinates in TB.

Symptoms:
1) When I input a new custom WPT in TB (by "Add Custom"), e.g.
Lat: N 49°14.8915'
Lon: E 16°37.3204'
the result saved into the GPX file is sometimes wrong !! The right position should be 49.248191, 16.622006 but in GPX there is
49.247728678, 16.620185769 Exclamation
However, this behaviour depends on the map currently loaded in TB Exclamation
Shocked
- For some maps the result in GPX is OK for some it is wrong Shocked (Let us call theese maps "wrong maps" but actually there is nothing wrong with them.)
- "With the same wrong map" it gives always the same wrong result.
- The WPT is saved right (even with "wrong map") when I enter it (by "Add Custom") in the file format (e.g. N 49.248191°, E 16.622006°)

2) With "wrong map" any WPT coordinates from GPX are DISPLAYED wrong (as numbers). But the position in the map is OK.
So it seems there is a problem with the conversions of coordinates in both the directions.

@vincent looks like a gps restarted (PMTK010 sentence...)

@Kiikonen I was told that every geocacher would understand an abbreviation like TS1.5/2.0 - traditional type, small container, difficulty 1.5, terrain 2.0 - which you can see as GC Class item in waypoint details form...

@Celda I was afraid of this... It all depends on Settings->Basic->Coordinates selection. I thought that people would use Geocaching Lat/Lon for geocaching, and then the input is current map agnostic, ie. WGA-84 (and you see WGS-84 Lat/Lon labels in the forms). However with Map Lat/Lon, you enter current map datum coordinates.

Display heading (course)?

Yes, that's what I meant. I know, this value would only be reliable by walking/moving - as well as the arrow itself.

Thank you a lot!

Thank you for the quick reply. I don't know much about WGA-84, WGS-84, formats of coordinates etc. but I assumed that DEGREES+MINUTES/60+SECONDS/3600 is always the right number which should have nothing in common with the map currently loaded. What the hell is the problem ?
The input box does not properly understand the numbers I input as DEGREES, MINUTES and SECONDS or what ?

However, you are right, the setting "Geocaching Lat/Lon" seems to help.
(But in my opinion all the formats are sometimes used in geocaching.)
