hi,
i've installed TB ver 0.0.99 S60 version on nokia 5630 XM and both the light control and tared maps doesnt work.
After S60 helper installation the ligght control works fine, but the tared maps are as slow as they were previously.
Did i something wrong or theres something else a have to do.
BTW seem like the helper starts automatically with the phone. Does it consume any phone resources?
regards

Please verify that Settings->Misc->use native service is checked.
Yes, the helper starts automatically. Most of the time it sleeps, and is woken up by OS upon request from TB (change backlight or load map tile). |

Is that correct?
At Nokia 5800 S60 V5 and TB 0.9.99 backlight does not work without the S60 helper application/TrekBuddyService. _________________ Nokia 5800

No it is not, unfortunately, tbsvc is still needed for all S60. |

Indeed, it does not work
I've opened a thread at symbian forum asking for help...
EDIT: Looks like the symbian.org guys are already working on fixing the problem, or so they say |

Hi Kruch, fine program!!!
My mobile: Nokia 6234 (6233/6234 is a Nokia Symbian Series 40)
I found out that the backlicht dimming in steps works fine with version 0.9.80 but does not work with 0.9.99 (some error message about no access or authorisation). So I went back to 0.9.80. Just for information.

I have a question, regarding the service on my 5800.
In situations where I have no network coverage, I can't start Trekbuddy. I get error messages when it tries to load my default Atlas.
I'm guessing this is because it can't setup a network connection to get to the loopback address for the helper service. This is a problem because I often want to use Trekbuddy in remote locations where there isn't network coverage.
Has anyone else seen this, and is there a workaround? |

I'm checking the possibility to use named pipes for IPC, this would help to get rid of all network related issues we've experienced so far. |

Hi,
i´m using Nokia 5800.
Is Trekbuddy Service still necessary in version 1.00 for backlight control? _________________ Nokia 5800

|
|
Hallo, I have installed TB 1.0.5 for Symbian at my Nokia E52 but screensaver appears when I run TB what is disturbing the function seriously. I try to install Trekbuddy Service 0.6.0 but nothing good happens and the screensaver appears again. Pressing a "3" button shows an error "service unavailable". What am I doing bad? Can you help me please? Thanks! |

| "service unavailable" means that TrekBuddy could not connect TBService to instruct to prevent screensaver. Although TBService should autostart on device restart, you may try to start it manually - "Starting now" window should appear for a while. And despite TB uses localhost connection, network connection permission may be needed too. |

SPAM, I omited the TB service icon so I didn´t start it manually. It works great now, thank you!
So next, is there a way to stop the service manually when it becomes redundant? It is not so important but it also doesn´t stops when TB is closed... Thanks! |
