| I signed it for my IMEI and selected all capabilities, but I still can't install it on a N82. It gives me the same error message as with the version downloaded from your site. |

I googled a bit, and maybe the descriptor was bad... Uploaded new build.
I also updated wiki with capabilities list, so that you can match them with selection during signing process... |

Thanks, it works now. Two problems though:
1.) When you press "3" a few times to turn the backlight on and then off again, it stays off. You can press "3" to turn it on again, but you can't get the default behaviour back (i. e. turning the light on for a few seconds when any button is pressed)
2) The service keeps the microSD card locked even if Trekbuddy is not running, so you can't select the USB mass storage mode any more. And since there's no way of terminating the service, you have to restart the phone... |

Once it works ok I'll remove the logging, so card locking should go away then..
I'll check the backlight behaviour more thoroughly.. |

Hi kruch,
first of all congratulations for this formidable application!
Since there is no announcement thread about TrekBuddy 0.9.81 at the moment, i want to share my experiences with v0.9.81 + S60 service here.
I use a N80 (Firmware 5.0719.0.2) + Holux M1200 connected via provider Bluetooth.
1. It works great using tared maps.
2. Backlight control works fine.
3. This version seems to be the most stable version on my phone since an early beta of 0.9.79. Later versions seems to have a problem that, after some time, position will not be updated. I think a similar problem was reported at this fora some time ago. I did not expierence this problem in about an hour of use of 0.9.81 dev snapshot.
4. Bug: If you used backlight control once, you can't return to phones default mode, that means, you will never get the screensaver and powersaving feature in Trekbuddy until you reboot the phone.
5. Enhancement req. 1: Please add a notification that S60 service is started. On second start the service should be disabled of course with a notification too.
6. Enhancement req. 2: If there is already a special S60 service give it the ability to query the phones actual network data (MMC, MCC, LAC, CellID, signal strenght)
7. Enhancement req. 3: Please give TrekBuddy the ability to log those data plus actual position and date. So i don't have to switch applications when geocaching just to log cell-ids for use at sites like www.opencellid.org. Perhaps it could log the O2 cellbroadcasts together with MMC, MCC, LAC, CellID in a separate file too.
Thanks for listening.

I have been trying to get this to work on a Nokia E61i, but I cannot load
my maps at all, see log below. The first file is without a tmi-file, the
second with one. Both these maps load fine when I'm not running
the service, but switching tiles is painfully slow using tar-files, but that
you know already. I had no problems installing the service and 0.9.81.

[01.08 16:51:18.451500] servant leaving
There is 4-5 control characters appended to the file name, I have here
replaced them with "-".
On the phone I get the following error messages:
Incorrect file selected.
Try again.

@Thomas Thanks for the report and suggestions And, I'll publish the service sources so that anyone with C and Symbian skills can contribute, it was tough start for me
@jerrycan Thanks for the log, I'll investigate the problem. |

Hi kruch,
i would give it a try to enhance the S60 service Well, it just would be a try, because the last time i used C(++) was on my good old Commodore Amiga 500
I already installed the Nokia S60 SDK because i really thought about developing a PythonForS60 application with (almost) the same functionality as TrekBuddy just to get my GSM-Logging features . And for learning Python as well...
Perhaps i can use Symbians cTelephony-examples to implement my most wanted features in the service. Mmmh, it looks like a split for S60 2nd and 3rd edition, they use different api's.

I would not bother with S60 2nd, they are practically unusable for TB anyway.. |

Hi,
I am new trekbuddy user, thx for this great tool!
I've got this to work on a Nokia E61.
Here are my experiences so far:
Startup time was 40s w/o the service running (for a 4.1MB map)
Startup time was 80s with the service running and w/o tmi file
Startup time was 5s with the service running with tmi file
Scrolling really didn't change much, I still find it slow, but it works
Backlight can be switched on and off but e.g. the 10% comes out as 100%
As I am new I have some questions:
Tried CMS, but couldn't find as many for E61 320x240 as for others. So far I have CMSBB8800-320x240.rar and digiblue1_mod.zip, but the digiblue1 overlays the line with the speed every other second.
Creating the tmi file took me a while until I finally realized that I need tar in cygwin under Windows: tar -R -tf home.tar > home.tmi
OK, finally found Tar for Windows too:
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gtar.htm
I have started to exploit the gpx files with
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ very cool!
I would like to use this for jogging, like comparing how much time I needed between 2 waypoints, maybe merging track with data from my HAC4 like heart beat, elevation or temperature. Any recommendations?
So far I've found http://www.bikexperience.de

Thank you for this report. Yes, .tmi is crucial.
My tests on E60: scrolling is not as good as on SE or S40 phones, but it takes 1-2 secs for "2-tiles" scroll, and so I find not "bothering". Backlight 25-50-100% levels are distinguishable , 10% seems tobe active for a few secs, that I observe intensity increase to a level similar to 25% value. I guess there is some relation to system default level... |

I gave v0.2 a try yesterday but TB wasn't able to load my selected atlas.
That's what the log says:
