It is not going to be native S60 TrekBuddy (!), but just a simple service that will help TB "bypass" java inefficiency on S60 (thank you, Nokia Mad ) , that affects tar-ed maps.

As for ., I think sooner or later there will be java environment for it; I'm not going to rewrite TB into Objective-C Smile (which I loved at the college).

For those who care, happen to use S60 phone and are interested in testing - together with TrekBuddyService, tar-ed maps should work faster. Also backlight control should finally work.

I shortly tested iton E60, I'd appreciate knowing how it works on other S60s... Wink

I am using trekbuddy for a while and find it very useful.
I have few wishes which can make my use better.
1)When I watch the screen from distance I am not able to clearly identify the current position clearly.
I feel displaying the current location during navingation could be better with googlemap like green dot with an arrow.
2) Can trekbuddy cach the current location as googlemap.

Thanks

Hari

Hi, the latest version even doesn't work on SXG75. There is no chance for me to get an atlas loaded, and there is no way to leave the program beside killing it. Err msg: _Event failure_(code1 'ck@1cb37664'; throwable null):Java.long.nullpointerException. Does it help you?
hope the elder tb0980 will work as before.Shocked

Camera: Original camera software can turn off the camera when I live it alone for 1 minute.. When my position is fixed and I try take photo (save current gps position) the application does not came back automaticly:( It can be possible for example by press 'cancel'- but this not works:( I must wait 1 minute. I see communicat that with photo is everything ok, but I can't back instantly..

Loading and browsing tar-ed atlases have never been this fast before on my Nokia 6120c. It works very well most of the time, but on very rare occasion, when loading a new atlas, trekbuddy would hang or displays various error messages. Quiting and running trekbuddy again usually solves the problem, but on one occasion restarting the phone was needed because trekbuddy failed to load the default atlas at all during start-up (only trekbuddy hangs, not the phone). I attached the log in case you would like to examine it.

The service's log grows quite fast, perhaps one day you could provide a user interface with an option to turn the log and the application itself off.

Backlight control seems to work ok.

I hope you have a plan to make similar app for UIQ3x phones.

Thank you kruch Smile

The map loading errors may be a result of too optimistic code. I know of it and I'll fix it. Also I assume that once the app works OK, I'll remove loggin completely.

The app is using generic Symbian API, so it could run on UIQ3 as well I guess, but packaging may differ. I'll check it...

Hi.

This new version looks that it works perfectly on my Nokia N70 (cause now the backlight works fine).
But when I establish the connection with my GPS bluetooth, TB asks me if i let it to connect to the net. I press NO and works as usually. What happen if I let TB to connect to the net?? I don't wanna try it, cause in Spain the mobile data is not cheap at all.

Gracias y adiós.

This testing version, attempts to connect to TrekBuddyService native application using localhost address (127.0.0.1), so no GPRS etc connection should get established. But it does only when you use tar-ed maps or backlight control, is that so?

Ok, now everything's clear! Was that, the backlight control!
I have given permision to TB for not giving me that advice, so for me, this "testing" version (sorry for the "new version") works fine.

Adiós.
