Well, what the TB will do in case there are map tiles in different colour space.
Let say I have a tile of 1-bit depth (typically the border of map), then indexed 4 bits and let's say 8bit indexed.

What I see is that is should not matter as they are separate files and Java decodes them transparently for application. So the TB should display them accordingly.
@Kruch: could you confirm the image handling in TB, please?

I do not know. But displays are usually at least hi-color, so I guess no colour issues should arise...
