I've installed TB version 0.9.78 on my BlackBerry 8830 and all seems to be working fine (maps load, themes are recognized,...) except that there does not seem to be any indication that TB is able to recognize the internal GPS facilities that are build into this phone.

All of the permissions for TB have been set to "Allow" and all of the necessary data folders have been created on the microSD card and still red indicator beacon in the top right-hand corner of the screen stays red and only changes colour when tracking is started. While tracking the beacon turns yellow/orange and displays the "R" to indicate that it is recording; however, since there doesn't appear to be a recognized GPS signal the track file is created but nothing is added to it after it's creation and I can't create way points.

My BlackBerry is running BB OS 4.2.196 as a CDMA phone on the Bell Mobility network (using BlackBerry Internet Service) in Canada. Does TB support CDMA phones? If so, how do I get TP to recognize the internal GPS receiver of this phone? I'd really like to avoid having to go out any purchase a BT GPS receiver.

P.S. Great looking application. I've been looking around for quite some time for a BlackBerry application that does exactly what TB does. Great job!

Whether it is CDMA or GSM device should be irrelevant. Did you try to wait long enough? Sometimes it might take longer to get a fix. Orange beacon is a good sign, could you check Info->Technical->Provider Status and Error next time?

Thanks for the quick response! Good to know that CDMA/GSM shouldn't have a bearing on the proper functioning of this application.

Here's the information from the "Info" screen regarding the provider status:

Provider Status ; stalls=0; restarts=0;
syncs=0; mismatch=0;
checksums=0; errors=0; pings=0

Hopefully this will help shed some light on the matter.

Cheers.

Not really, I'm afraid... Does any other application (like the built-in Map) get a fix?

After uninstalling and reinstalling version 0.9.78, fiddling around with some of the settings and allowing sufficient time for a satellite fix (sometimes up to 2 minutes or more) I managed to get things working.

Truly an amazing piece of software!
