My question is like the subject of this post. Is there an easier way to make maps, than the one described in HOWTO Maps and Atlases

I've also looked on the one made for PSP
the renaming can be done, but then there is the calibration points

Anyone ?

Probably not.

There are two ways for calibration:
- find coordinates of map corners;
- if you have waypoints or tracks for map area use these points for calibration and checking.

One (maybe) more important for you.
I don't see too much value of such maps for outdoor (offroad).

Is there any way to convert a map for another app like tomtom/garmin ...

the psp program could work, it also contains the source code (.net) so if someone with the good knowledge of .net maybe could convert/adapt that applicatin for TB ?

I think for TB to become more user "friendly"...

What step in map preparation for TB you find least user-friendly?

I'll have a look at the PSP, .NET/C# is not unknown to me... Is 0.2.1a latest vesion? It works ... well ... not sure whether it works at all... Confused

It's the point of finding out the cordinates (i like to use map.google.com for my maps) to calibrate the map.

Here is the part that needs translation:

...

(script-fu-register
"ot2gps"
"<Toolbox>/Script-Fu/OT2Gps"
"Creates map slices and converts them to PNG with specified color depth."
"Petr Krejci"
"2006 Petr Krejci"
"26th April 2006"
""
SF-IMAGE "Map" 0
SF-VALUE "Slice - height" "300"
SF-VALUE "Slice - width" "400"
SF-VALUE "Slice overlap" "0"
SF-VALUE "Colors" "256"
)
