Hi all,

I've a little problem to set the coordonates into a .map file :
When I retrieve some coordonates and pastes them in OziExplorer, something like that is generated :
Point01,xy,0,0,in,deg,48,86211740600377,N,2,15108871459961,W,grid,,,,N
Point02,xy,639,0,in,deg,48,86211740600377,N,2,2609519958496093,W,grid,,,,N
Point03,xy,0,479,in,deg,48,80788095536305,N,2,15108871459961,W,grid,,,,N
Point04,xy,639,479,in,deg,48,80788095536305,N,2,2609519958496093,W,grid,,,,N
IWH,Map Image Width/Height,640,480

(Where you can see a great precision in the coordonates)
But it does'nt work when using in TB.
I've simplified the file to get :
Point01,xy,0,0,in,deg,48,86,N,2,15,W,grid,,,,N
Point02,xy,639,0,in,deg,48,86,N,2,26,W,grid,,,,N
Point03,xy,0,479,in,deg,48,81,N,2,15,W,grid,,,,N
Point04,xy,639,479,in,deg,48,81,N,2,26,W,grid,,,,N
IWH,Map Image Width/Height,640,480

With 2 decimals it works.
As I do not know how to specify a precise lat/long coord (I think it must use another unit than the one I use), and I'm not familiar with GPS standards and cartography.
Can you help with my problem?
Can you tell me what type of coordonates are needed in a .map file?

Thanks a lot for any information !

Hi la_ouiche,
How you created this file ? By hand ?

Line
Point01,xy,0,0,in,deg,48,86211740600377,N,2,15108871459961,W,grid,,,,N
should have form "degrees, minutes.minutes fraction".
Value "86211740600377" is invalid as minutes. You should convert this value to "minutes.minutes fraction".
I suppose that you have coordinates in form
"48,86211740600377" or "48.86211740600377"
To convert such value you should multiply degree fraction by 60
0,86211740600377x60=51,7270443602262
so your line should be
Point01,xy,0,0,in,deg,48, 51.7270443602262,N ....
Be carefull, comma cannot be used as decimal separator in numbers !

Try to use Map Calibrator, where form "degree.degree fraction" can be used.
It is free and good for small area maps (means up to 50 km square).

Thanks Ranger for the prompt answer! That is much more understandable for me now!
In fact I used the coordinates given by google maps, so that's why I was wrong.
And yes you're right I've created the file by hand, I took as a basis the world.map file provided in the jar of TB Very Happy
The goal was to get a calibration file created on the fly when displaying a google map (as it seems that lots of people are interrested in).
So to make so I've started from the tdroza's script found in this forum, and now I would like to know if what I've create have sense.
Here attached is a zip file containing 3 html files ('mapexplore.html', and under 'html' directory 'map.html' and 'form.html').
To use it just double click on the mapexplore file. Then you will see the map of Paris (where I'm from Wink) from google maps, and from there you can navigate or enter any other position (it's trivial I know...).
The interresting part is just below the google map, there is the content of the .map file created for each map.
So after that I think what you have just to do is like Kruch said to save the map image in a .png file, and to copy and paste the data of the calibration .map file into the good named file for TB to work with.
I've also added four link at the bottom of the page that allows to get the next map on the desired direction.
I've not tested it yet because I've done it while I'm @ work Sad, so if someone wants to let me know how it works!
Cheers

Right it was the DIV tag that was not strictly defined, and it was accepted by IE and not by Mozilla...
So here is the correction that seems to work for both IE and mozilla!
