This evening I was cycling and using Trekbuddy to follow a new route. It was working VERY fine. The only two problems I have that it consumes a lot of energy so I have to go fast enough to be home before the battery is empty.
The second problem is that the background gives too much light in the dark. I was blinded by my map so I couldn't see the real track very well. Because it was very dangerous I turned of the light but then I went the wrong way because I didn't know exactly where to check the map...

Could it be possible to have some influence on the backlight? Maybe make the '3' switch between 'backlight on' and 'backlight off' a switch between 'backlight on', 'backlight shaded' and 'backlight off' or something.

This would help my battery-problem as well because it is the backlight that uses the most of the energy.

Overall I enjoy the application a lot so thanks for all the effort!

My phone has a brightness control for the display which is separate to TrekBuddy. I also know that you cannot control the brightness of the display on my phone using Java (I have a SE W800i).

So it is possible, but would not work on all phones.

Finer backlight (application) control would be possible on Nokia phones only.

On m600i i'm using 'activeobjapp' for backlight control (to avoid problems when backlight is turn on then off). Could backlight on/off could be disabled to avoid double backlight settings? Ex via jad configuration?

Yes, but it's easy to turn it via touchscreen (when using menu).
