Smile

So, for initial support for packages, import procedure:

1. check for existing files
2a. if none, goto 3
2b. if found, show conflicts and ask "overwrite all yes/no?" - on yes goto 3, else quit
3. unpack

?

Yes, this should be good. (Perhaps we might want more options after we test it a bit...)

There are ways how to improve this feature. Eg. TB could import content in a separate vendor (sub)folders:
- tracks and waypoints in subfolders are already supported (accesible)
- maps folders structure is complete arbitrary
- CMS can be only one, so TB could create a subfolder and copy files there, and then just remember which package was imported last and use CMS in that subfolder.
- the same for datums.txt (merge content of all datums.txt found)
- the rest is some non-critical stuff (custom sounds, ...?) - some strategy can be developed too
There are some questions about this approach such as if the package vendor should already provider content in subfolders, or TB should handle it etc

Do it means in final that this function " import package" will could be used also like a "profil option" ? (changing quickly with few clics, resources, ui-profiles, etc ...) Smile

Good point. After importing two or more packages, user can have mixed content in wpts etc, for most content it is not harmful but for CMS, having mixed screens from different providers is not good because user have no choice which screens should be used and will have to iterate over all of them with 5/7 keys Sad

So, TB will have to support profiles at some minimum level from the beginning, at least for CMS, so that only one CMS (from last imported package) is used Sad

TB can/should/will have to remember installed packages. Is we think package == profile, then switching would be cool feature then Smile

Yep, not only CMS, but screen resources too Smile
Maybe it is good point to add one more think about them, cause resources & ui-profiles are most screen specific.
So if content of package in resources/ui-profiles can be, ie:
resources
-package1_resources_480x800.tar
-package1_resources_720x1280.tar
-package1_resources_1080x1920.tar
ui-profiles
-package1_cms_480x800.tar
-package1_cms_720x1280.tar
-package1_cms_1080x1920.tar
probably app can choose the one best suitable Smile
Other way is to do such content rescaling in app ...

When target file already exist, TB will overwrite it only if it is older.

For clarify, is this limitation just for test ?
I hope TB overwrite in all cases (file older or not) with user choice yes/no ... It should be necessary when Package is used like profil switcher function Smile

Edit : currently, workaround this function by rename an other resources folder when "profil option" is needed ...

Using this to distribute an atlas works as long as there are no spaces in any map or directory name. If there is a space, the import fails with an error.

Would it be possible to change / fix that, since trekbuddy can handle names with spaces, only the import cannot? Many of my atlases unfortunately have spaces in the names somewhere...
