Is it just my imagination, or is the map display slightly more fuzzy than previously?

I think JNT is talking only about the map, but he's not sure ... just "feeling".
Rotated elements are perfect for me ... Smile

Rotated elements are rendered with bitmap filtering option, they should look smooth. But I do not know if it affects other things...

Map tiles are not, but I'm not sure how scaling works, maybe there is similar option.

I thought that TB numeric zoom (scale %) was working like all other android apps for display pictures (png, jpeg) ... Question
Normal fuzzy when zooming any picture (depend number of pixels/resolution of the source) ... right ?

In the same time, i have a bug ...
Settings configuration is not always saved !

Example : if in settings, numeric zoom is changed from 100% to 270% and after i want to come back to 100%, it's not possible.
I need to change to an other step (ex : 150%) before changing again to 100% for setting configuration correctly update ...
Edit : i restart TB each time, of course. Wink

http://www.trekbuddy.net/dev/2016-06-20/trekbuddy.apk

- using different method (in Android API) to scale map tiles

Cannot reproduce zoom settimgs issue. I tried: 1. change to 270. 2. Restart TB. 3 Change back to 100. 4. Restart TB. NO issue.... Rolling Eyes

I tried again without problem ... maybe i closed TB too quickly (not enough time to save configuration) Embarassed

Edit : this version seems working fine even if i dont see really difference how TB display maps. (it's OK, at least for me)

The difference may be in memory allocation and usage, hopefully better, but honestly I am just guessing...

It was just my first impression after installing the new version that the map tiles looked a little more fuzzy. As Ranger surmised, I'm not really sure if it is real... Probably imagining things. The course etc looks sharp.

Would scaling to integer magnitudes be sharper? 300 instead of 270?

Also now tried the very latest version. I honestly cannot really notice any difference compared to the version before.

I was hoping it might help to reduce OOMs... Anyway, even if it does not change anything, I understand the code better than the old one Cool

- 100-300%, you can try if it makes any difference

Could it be moved up a bit more, to 320% ?
It solves QHD support for ready PL maps ... Smile

Seems that behaviour OOM is better for me even if it's difficult to be completly sure ...
In all cases, no OOM error messages, no crash and nothing weird while "hard" test on my xCover2 with this last "320" version. Smile

My S6 has such a ridiculous ppi value that it would be beneficial to have 400%.
Unless this would worsen the memory issues, of course...

@JNT
400% factor in app means maps ppi 144 max.
Years ago typical simple phone screen was around 180 ppi (sample on previous page) and no map scaling in app was used Smile
320% is exactly good for S6, S7 576 ppi screens in such case. I suppose 801 ppi display era (ie Z5 Premium) will not be continued more ...
But who knows ? Wink
