Since Mobac started its life as TrekBuddy Atlas Creator, I've always been puzzled as to why it does not create the "normal" layer structure by default, but luckily it is easy to rearrange the structure tree by dragging and dropping the maps where you want them.

Before zoom mode "auto" was added to TB, atlas creation was not very intuitive task for me. I was quite suprised first time.

Now it works fine, for me Smile, because usually I want to stick with selected mapsource (= layer) when zooming. When I eventually want to change it, I do key 7 long press. Zoom mode "auto" is therefore just fine.

I believe there are other approches to atlas structuring in MOBAC.

I am thinking - atlas structure implies usage and therefore it implies what user expects from zooming, right? It makes sense to include this info atlas descriptor then, because it would make life easier for people who uses atlases from different sources, when some work well with "layer" and others with "auto" mode. Changing Settings and reloading everytime is rather annoying, I can imagine.

Mobac was based mainly on PC maps, as PC application, so some kind of influences are visible up today Wink
For example, map sources are prepared for computers screen resolutions as base, but rather not for phones (x2 and more resolution is needed).
Maps are structured the same way like in services.
TB atlas structure was indeed created few years before such tools was designed Smile
But it is easy to create typical TB structure even in Mobac, when single scaled maps are added in sequence to atlas as layers. Known from years Wink
Special description in atlas content header isn't bad idea (do the same what easyzoom setting do, but app is driven by data too). So why not Smile
For maps in one layer, when scale can't be used to order them, probably some scenario like "scale first, name next" or "name first, scale next" can be fun Smile

http://www.trekbuddy.net/dev/2016-03-12/trekbuddy.apk

Supports Zoom hint in .tba. It overrides user settings for given atlas.

Example:
Code:
Atlas 1.1
Zoom Layers

Zoom {Off, Layers, Auto}
