Are tmi files still used at all? If so, how and for what?

I remember reading that tmc files (created by trekbuddy) replaced that functionality.
MOBAC still creates tmi files that cause display problems for some reason when I modify the .map file. Confused

On Android, with restriction to save files on SD, mostly tmc files can't be created by app, so if you have tmi ones, you are in the air Smile
It looks similar on WP too, files restriction is stable and not removable Smile
But if you will use tmc instead of tmi when moving maps to SD, probably nothing happens.
Simply - map acceleration files to speed up app maps handling.
Just contains set of paths to map tiles and calibration file. Means don't change calibration file filename Smile

I do not change the name of the .map files, only the calibration point values inside the .map files... but still if I leave the tmi file there, it does not display the png tiles in trekbuddy (only black squares with text like: 0-256 256x256). If I remove the tmi file, then it works.
Very strange to me... Confused

Tmi file is just text file, so it is easy to open it in any text editor.
What kind of problems can be - ie if paths to tiles are very long (more than 100 characters path for tile entry was one of the cases on forum, Mobac map).
In such case app just couldn't find tile(s) and screen is empty.
Shorter paths in tmi helps Smile
If it isn't your case, just attach sample of not working tmi file.

I suspect that the act of replacing the .map file is changing the "index" numbers that the tmi file lists. Then the new "index" numbers are different to that still listed in the tmi file.

Test3m is the original from MOBAC
Test3 has the .map file modified (tmi file still there - this one does not display properly) Removing the tmi file makes it work.

Hard case Wink
First - why you are using $ in map names ? (joke) Smile
I just changed map name to A10, packed it and it works
Second - if you change calibration file so much, block numbers in tmi files are changing (file should be recreated)

Code:
block          0: S 10.map
block          6: set/t_0_0.png
block        125: set/t_0_256.png
block

block          0: A10.map
block          4: set/
block          5: set/t_0_0.png
block

Just see attachment.

Just tool Smile
http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=246&start=62
Can be used for tmi creation, color filters are changing map content, so no more.
And sample Smile
