No GPS for TB on Sony XPERIA M DUAL ( A 4.2.2, FW 15.2.A.2.5 )

Hello,

I was using TB for 2 years on Symbian on Nokia E52, until the device got broken.
After some long time of evaluation what platform / device will be next, I have finally chosen
Sony XPERIA M DUAL with Android 4.2.2, currently with Firmware 15.2.A.2.5.

I am trying latest TB version for Android, 1.2.5.

While in general GPS(used aGPS) works fine for other GPS related applications, I am not able to connect by TB to internal GPS at all.

All I has ever got was the BLUE DOT.

Is there anything I do wrong , or should know ?

In my understanding BLUE DOT means TB is trying to connect to the receiver.
As GPS is set as internal, it should not be difficult...

Can you check Provider Error and Provider Status items in Info->Technical?

I could not locate any Provider error section/item in Info-technical.
Provider status says:
running; st=0; rs=1; sc=0; ms=0; mf=0; ch=0; er=0; pg=0; mx=0

I have also tried without success to freshly restart the device,
to avoid eventual interference with other GPS related apps on the background.

Interesting is, when I switch on GPS in TB,
there appears 2 small animated Android status GPS icons,
like if there is running GPS application properly.

So do the icons disappear, when I stop GPS usage in the TB.

Note that there appears in Android status line the message "Tracking active" with footstamps,
when I switch GPS on in TB, but it may be not important.

Ehm, do you mean Airplane/letadlo mode - what I understand as mode without any outgoing radio communication including GSM,
just receiving pure non-assisted GPS signal ?

Not yet.

Will try when I walk outside with time enough for GPS to set the fix.

BTW Should not be enough disabled wifi / mobile data ?

Just try, maybe it will be easier to find where the problem starts.

It is strange. All works OK now. I was under impression TB connected to GPS receiver, but unable to get GPS fix, would provide orange dot, not blue one. Perhaps because I do not remember if I have ever seen blue dot on Symbian - I remember only red, orange, green.

I was originally trying Android TB mostly at conditions, where was limited view to the sky and no fix was quite possible. But I would say I tried TB before under the sky too, so I do not understand.........

Outside I got quick fix with green dot, when I got outside returning home from work with aGPS. Then I switched to air plane mode and tried to run TB again. It got fix fast again - receiver had probably still fresh ephemeris data.Later it was not so fast, but it was understandable.

------

Could it be I may experienced temporary issue in case of parallel access to GPS model by several applications ? Does Android support I/O multitasking well ? ( I am rather newbie to Android ) E.g. I has bad experience with this on symbian, where seemed to me as TB did not sometimes like if GPS was already in use.

But I was running GPS status app when launching TB yesterday evening.....

At the code level, TB just registers a listener to GPS status and location changes with the location manager (and that is a system service in Android). So I assume it should be perfectly safe to have multiple apps running doing the same.

The blue dot is shown until the listener is notified when provider status changes, and there is indeed a big difference between OSes.
