Try start GPS in phone app not in trekbuddy
If GPS still not work you must reflash your phone with new firmware. You must found your language etc.
This usually happens when you have phone from operator and they lock GPS usage |

Hello,
i have a b2710 & trekbuddy 1.1.1.
I have troubles loading atlases made with Mobile Atlas Creator 1.8
So i transfer the repository (newAtlas) generated by MOBAC 1.8 to µSDcard/trekbuddy/maps/newAtlas near the no-map.xml file.
(newAtlas do not contain any xml files. Just tar files)
And if i load map, i always have the error
java.lang.ArithmeticException:104.
Nothing else.
Does someone have an idee ?
thank you for help ;) |

Is it a solution to run trekbuddy as the main application in forreground and do not be disturb by powersave interruptions ?
This powersave interruptions stop track logging.
For the moment I push the "3" button (a light bulb icon appears) and the screen is always turned on.
Thank you for answer :) |

As people suggest i made how to install TB on B2710
you can find it on:
http://www.inet.hr/~barisic/b2710/
it is in Word 2007 format or PDF
TrekBuddy on Samsung B2710.docx 182K
TrekBuddy on Samsung B2710.pdf 474K
there you will also find TKFileExplorer
if there are any mistakes let me know so i can fix them |

I'm really new on this forum and the B2710 will be my first mobile phone. (Mmm yes, I'm not a modern guy, I know)
I would like to say thank you so much to the TB developpers and to Jole for the very nice synthetic document that he has written. It is very clear and well illustrated.
However, I have a (stupid) question. It is probably because I is my first mobile phone, but I do not understand how and when I am supposed to use the TB *.jar and *.jad files. Theses files are not mentioned in the document.
Am I supposed to install TB before or after the instructions given by Jole ?
If ever somebody has any recommandation or user guide for apps installation on B2710, it will be a great help to a beginner like me !
Thanks,
Nabla |

on starting page of this forum, just on top of the forum you got leatest versions of TB : version 1.1.1 , version 1.1.0 ...
click no version u want (for example : i'm , using 1.1.1)
then in that topic first post you got "1.1.1 download page" click on it
now u opened download page you will use "standard (Nokia S40, SonyEricsson, Siemens, Samsung, ...)" .jad and .jar
now you can download those to your pc and then transfer them to your phone over Bluetooth or usb cable.
or you if data traffic is not too expensive for you, then just type these link into your phone browser
http://www.trekbuddy.net/releases/1.1.1/trekbuddy.jad
and download it.
then you run .jad that you transferred from your pc or one u downloaded.
then u apply those instructions |

(those was the parts I was missing, thanks!)
Hi Jole,
Thanks a lot. I supposed that I use TKFile explorer to transfer the two files from the PC to the mobile phone SD card?
When you say "run the .jad", does it means that I have to double clic on it in TK file explorer, like any other exe-program in windows?
Sorry, I really am a beginer for everything that concern mobile phone...

you dont need to use tk explorer to transfer it to phone.
well since u r beginer some stuff u need to know
u will need to have memory card in your phone since built in memory is useless for normal using of TB (maps/atlases can be quite big)
if u inserted new memory card into phone format it if phone asks you to
just plug pohone whit usb cabel and wait until it is recognized as some sort of external flash drive (like u plug usb flash drive)
then use explorer on you pc to transfer files to that drive that represents your mobile phone (U WILL NEED BOTH FILES IN SAME PLACE .jad and .jar)
you can put the anywhere on that drive
once files are transferred unplug phone, wait until that icon of memory card on top of the screen of your mobile phones stops blinking (it can blink really slow give it 5 minutes to stop blinking)
now on your phone open main menu
then go to "My Files" , now use left/right key (big silver key on your phone) to switch to "memory card" tab.
now find your files, (if u dont see it try by opening "Others" folder)
when u found files run .jad
it will ask u to install TB maybe u get not singed warning but continue whit instalation. at end of installation proces u will be asket to run it , u dont need to do that.
that should be end of installation proces |

Hi,
Thanks Jole for the explanations.
In facts, I have seen your post too late. Here is what I have done :
1- Install Samsung kies on computer in order to have the drivers OK. Connect phone to PC, then use the procedure in windows control panel to check that communication was OK and to know which COM port number was used.
2- Use TK file explorer to copy the *.jar and *.jad into the phone in Phone( P: )/AppEx/User/Java/Games/TrekBuddy/
(I had to create the TrekBuddy directory, normal)
3- Type *#7092463*# on the B2710
4- Go to (5)-DB Management
5- Go to (5)-Update DB
6- Do the DB update
7- At this step, TB was installed and worked well without prompting for any messages for authorizations or something else (except the very first time, to create work directories on the SD card)
Then, I followed the steps to enable logging tracks in sleep mode. However, tracking still stops when the mobile phone enters in sleep mode. Even if I do not use the track mode, when the phone enters in sleep mode with the GPS started, I have to stop and restart it to actualize the position at wake up. If I want to have continuous logging tracks, I have to press '3' to have light ON. It is not a problem for my use. However, I am not sure if this behaviour is normal with the B2710.
Finally, I followed the procedures to add maps, cms, and to properly configure TB for the B2710. Everything seem to be OK now. GPS localization is really accurate : +/-2m most of the time. Altitude seems to be a little bit fuzzy, but it is quite OK.
For information purpose, here is the parameters I have retained :
(Setting/Misc)
[ ] Broken I/O
[X] Lowmem I/O
[X] Safe renderer
[X] Forced GC
[ ] Power Save
[ ] 1- tile scroll
[X] large atlases
[ ] lazy GPX parsing
[X] numeric input hack
[ ] ext. CFG backup
[ ] filtered scaling

all cool, as long as u got it to work
gps position fix is quite accurate in most cases for me is between -/+ 3 to 12m
altitude is something different it varies extremely up to -/+200m difference then actual altitude i'm on. luckily for me i dont need that information. |

Hey everyone, just purchased a GT-B2710 and couldn't be happier. Anyone with experience here have any advice on using trekbuddy on this device? More specifically using MOBAC to create atlases. I seem to have it figured out but whats the difference between tar and untar? Also, am I correct in saying that you can't "zoom," but instead use the numeric keypad 9 to select zoomed layers.
On a side note, if you are using the B2710 in the US and have questions about at&t network configurations I can probably help you out. _________________ v1.1.1 on Samsung GT-B2710 |
