hi
1st post so please be gentle!

i'm trying to run trekbuddy on a java ifone copy.
but i only get stream or simulator options.
the phone is paired to a vodafone spp/gps keyring
that appears in the phones device list.

on the info tech page it says:
provider error: java.io.IOException. no such port

is this because it still has com5 entered in this field?

any suggestions will be much appreciated...

thankyou

There is little chance it will work. You need to get bluetooth address of the GPS (12 hexadecimal digits). Then change stream URL in TB configuration like this:
Code:
btspp://000276fd79da:1

(to find out the address, for example if you have Windows, pair the gps with the PC, go to Bluetooth->Show devices->right-click the GPS->Properties->Hardware tab->Properties->Details->Bluetooth Device Address dropdown)

here's some info from the phone-

Device name:MTKBTDEVICE
Device address:7f:da:f1:08:66:01
Supported services:

Handsfree profile/Headset profile/SPP/DUN/OPP/FTP/A2DP
AVRCP/BPP/HID/BIP/SyncML service

on the info/tech page of trekbuddy im getting:

javax.microedition.io.ConnectionNotFoundException.
The requested protocol does not exist
btspp://001c8810289f:1

I meant that it would be miracle if it worked.

And I'm afraid that the error means that the phone's java bluetooth implementation (if there is any at all) does not support serial port profile , so TB is not able to connect to any BT GPS. Sad

On my last trip to Shanghai China, they raided an apartment that had grade school children assembling these copies.
This problem should not be a surprise.....

Is it anything new in these problems? Thanks, how to solve the problem with external GPS with Bluetooth - Java (gives serial ports) - TB. Buy new phone with OS?
