Previuos means which ?
One change done in 0957Beta was inserting again server certificate into jad. Maybe it is your problem.
Just compare jad files content of working/not working versions.

@Silverfish

I've had the same problem on the 6110 nav. (s60 3rd) when trying to install via pc.

solution for my phone: installation directly from the handset (not via pc), accepting the error message and then reinstall from the programm-manager (settings - data-manager - progr.manager -> hope translation is correct)

The signature is different, but you'd expect that (being a different file, and all.

No, certificate was absent in one of preview 957 version. Without info about your version I can speculate only.
So I assume that you try last 0957Beta, which doesn't work and 0956 regular release working.
Next I assume, that you don't try to update version, but before installation you deleted old version permannetly.
If yes, I can suppose one reason only, that your phone wouldn't install app, if server certificate included in jad is already present in store.
For such case you should delete server certificate from jad and insert MIDP 2.0 header to file.
Next problem can be jad file format, which should be as original, some people would use custom datums in jad and sometimes write jad file with wrong format. I suppose that this is not your case.

tintifax had the answer.

If I browsed for www.trekbuddy.net on my phone's browser, and clicked on trekbuddy.jad on the download page, enevrything installed just fine.

Lucky my phone had WiFi!

S.

Curious it wouldn't install from a jad file bluetoothed to the phone...

Indeed, in one of the 0957 preview version I omitted "root" Thawte certificate from the JAD, but I put it back in the last one.
I assume the file size matches the jar file size info in the jad (208458)?

The .jar size did match the .jad (208458).

I imagine its some obscure security thing that means that you have to download it, rather than install from a file on the phone.

Strange.

Question is, what it means for app developers.
If such behaviour is operator customization trend, new problem arrives.
If firmware itself, people should change downloading method.
Can Nokia's owners investigate this field a little bit more ?

just tell me on which devices you'd like to test the application / installation and what exactly shall be tested
(installation from pc via pc-suite, copy via usb-cable + install, etc.)

- N95

-> Installation via PC-Suite ok; jad-File not copied to phone
-> Prgr.mgr.: 2 entries: TrekBuddy + TREKBU~1.jar (not installed)
-> set userrights for the application: no problems (all options available)

- E90
-> installed on MemCard & Phone -> both is working

open:
- 6300
- 6120 classic
- 5300
- ???

Idea is to have simple TB installation instruction for Nokia users, for different models. Sorry, I couldn't say which ones, I'm not using Nokia's.
But I read on forum many questions about installation in different places, so I wrote such simple instruction for SE users. You can find it in docs section.
If you can do something simlar for Nokia's users and next check for which models it is working, can be helpfull.

I suggest to use TrekBuddy wiki for installation instructions for various models.

Wiki is a good idea. I've seen that there's already something for the 6230i.

I will edit the article for Nokia devices
