I Work On Some CMS For This Device and I Found that this device is display PNG even worse than JPG (Its only prior for the background, the font and the others are works fine). I trying to change the color profil, color modes and etc...I Get The best result when i use grayscale PNGs, with 256 color, master mode and noise dithering, but its not what i looking for. Is it possible to make a chance to display JPGs not only PNG? I Use the CMS Designer tool, but it isn't precise, the fonts are misplaced (a bit) and cutted (In the side).

if you can hack it, yes. but you'd void warranty and there's a risk of bricking your phone too..

some new findings about the b2710:

1) it's not so difficult to bypass the certificate problem.

set the pc-connetion to "samsung kies" and use TkFileExplorer to remove the entries:

Phone( P: )/AppEx/User/Java/Games/TrekBuddy/MANIFEST.MF
Phone( P: )/AppEx/User/Java/Games/TrekBuddy/appdb/settings.bin

(see also: http://www.samsung-eternity.com/samsung-eternity-tips-and-tricks/how-to-bypass-signing%28all-apps%29-and-unlock-gps-%28tk-file-explorer%29/?topicseen )

2) there is a way to let trekbuddy logging tracks in sleep mode.

use *#7092463*# to enter the internal settings and change
-> 4.Module Settings
-> 6.Java
-> 3.VM Settings
-> 3.MVM settings
-> 3.MVM user End Key Option
from "Pause Only" to: "Hide only"

now you can use the "switch off"-button any time to hide a running java application in the background without stopping it's activity. trekbuddy will continuous logging in this mode and the device can turn off the light and go to sleep.Cool

when trekbuddy is running as the main application in foreground, this powersave interruptions can interfere in very bad ways. logging and automatic repositioning on the map will stop and you have to restart the application.
therefore i would suggest, to make a new option in the configuration menu, to choose forced backlight (=button "3") as the default behavior while track logging on this devices.

3) i couldn't figure out any way to get some extra info via the jsr-179 api too Sad but there is a manual way to get some more information about this subsystem using the gps test menu of the phone: *#4097*4097#

4) i don't know if it is of any use for further development, but i always find an "ProviderError: api.location.LocationException: default criteria used" in the technical info after starting the gps activity.

file:///Mmc/Others/trekbuddy

you probably have to create it manually before running trekbuddy

Thanks! Small correction though: it has to be file:///Mmc/Others/TrekBuddy/DataDir (note this DataDir in the end) TrekBuddy that I use (links to installer pasted in this topic http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5439&highlight=samsung+2710) also seems to create required subdirectories of DataDir.

my trekbuddy, also downloaded from here, did not create any directories by itself. Probably because I installed it without memory card at first.

Hi
I just got my B2710 (its locked to croatian T-scum) today and installed TB 1.0.5
also installed maps for Croatia inside maps folder on memory card

and guess what i have that annoying problem as describe above
Quote:
when i do instal it put map in,looks good but red point and no gps signal...

i can make point go blue if i keep pressing "start" for a while (cca 20sec) but it still seems there is no GPS signal

is there any easier way to fix problem than by using data cabel? and poking around my mobile phone?

and another i cant find this CMS that "chyhayabusa" mentioned

Quote:
I was find a CMS pack (ui-profiles.zip with size of 106KB)
wich have everything I need (TOP,SPD,NAV,GEO,SAT,LAP,RUN,BIK,ALT)
I will test it to this days and post replay.

can any one send me link for it on PM or post it here

thanks

ps. in Menu > Info > Technical >
ProviderError:
java.lang.SecurityException: Application not authorized to access the restricted API

hi there,

I tried holding the # key, while editing the Data Dir field, but what only happened was that the lower toolbar (OK; abc and Cancel) disappeared and the only thing I could do was to exit with the Cancel Call key. Anyone with the same Problem?

Hi,

I wave the same issue, simply can not edit GPX dt (s) and GPX dt (m) setting to get TrekBuddy to work. Holding down # does not activate input menu in number fields as it does in text fields. Sily error, but makes TrekBuddy useless for me :(
There should be some workaround as I have read that people are using this application with Samsung B2710...
