This will never be possible with bitmapped maps. If you need such features, TB is not the right solution for you.

I disagree it's impossible. You could for example use openstreetmap api to retrieve all streets within a given area, store the name & location in a separate file/database and use that for the search. Then just display the location in trekbuddy.

This would be very useful, because sometimes street names aren't even visible on the zoom levels you have downloaded, and even if they are it's a pain to search for a specific street if you don't know where it is.

But a street is not a single WPT or even a straight line ...

Yes, it is easy, ie with WeTravel.
In TB you can use routes prepared in internet services or ready travel plans to .... not search streets.
I don't know it is worth to have TB like WeTravel.
But you can use similar maps for both.
