Hi,

The idea came from this post.

At least two persons would like the option to continue the log and restore CMS values after a crash or a battery change or a phone restart or ... you get the picture.

If something bad happens to the phone or trekbuddy, I'd like to be able to "continue last GPX track/log". Trekbuddy would load statistics from the saved GPX, show them on CMS and start "appending" data to the last (or user selected) GPX log. For the "lost" data, TB would simply pretend it lost sattelite data or lost GPS communication.

To support this idea: I just had a horrible experience with my phone on a roughly 2x1000km trip.... My phone locked up, restarted and crashed more times than I care to remember, so this option could be excellent way to help those who have the "uber" Nokia N73 Symbian S60v3 phones, and others that are as stable. TB was my faithful companion, but it had no chance to survive my phone...

I plan to post a trip report sometime soon, so you might read more about it.

If you agree and support this idea, please reply to the post and at least say "+1".

Thanks,

Viktor

What about that:

Whenever a Tracklog is started, TB should present a file select box. So you can either append the data to an existing track or create a new one with the file name you like.

So we also would have individual naming of the file, which is also on my wishlist Smile

This is similar to WPT management ...

Stefan

Tracklog file is sometimes not finished correctly - last row contains </trkpt>, closing of trkseg, trk and gpx is missing.
Last tracklog file should be in the first line. Maybe time sorting can help here.
If new file is choosen, present format of filname could be used as default.

Both features (continue tracklog and restore CMS values) are great ideas.

Both features (continue track log and restore CMS values) would be very helpful after restart or crash.
