|
|
Maps are not mandatory, if waypoints or tracks are available.
It might already be useful to see the current position in relation to those elements.
Therefore I'd like to propose a 'no map' mode to be implemented in TB.
The calibration information of the world map already included in TB could serve as a starting point.
Based on this, zooming could be done (eg in factors of 2), centered around the current position.
The 'No Map' mode could also be useful if you move to areas for which you don't have maps anymore, or for tarred atlasses with patchy structure (maps here and there, blackholes in between). _________________ SXG75 / HTC G1 |

It has been quite a while; I want to bring this topic up again.
Arbitrary zoom (of the map or over a black background, I don't care) is very handy in several use cases, e.g.
1) having no map but way-/trackpoints
2) having only a map on which reading the wpt name is difficult
3) having a map of too low scale so wpts are all rendered in one place
4) having a map of too high scale so only few of all relevant wpts are visible at once,
5) having an error in atlas due to corrupt file, wrong subdirectory nesting,...
What do you think? |

Hi,
I struggled a few minutes on TB looking to zoom in in the world map, to see my route to folow... couldn't find it...
I'm new on TB, but... can't this be done in a 'blank' map or atlas, with several layers witch are just blank layers?
Any way, I would really like, and use that.
Happy new year!

Yes, this could be done in theory, but this should not be the goal.
I would suggest that if maps are present, but not for the zoom level requested then simply zoom the last image file, but give a visual warning.
If no map is present, then just use a blank screen.

Yes,i want to use this fuction a lot, when i goto a new place and have no map in my TB,I should use this fundunmental function to write the track or way points, then navigate by the way points or track to get the way back,I try 1.0.7 ,still no this option,I use trimlbeoutdoors on my blackberry 8820,that software can usely do this (but it is not so covenient for upload download and edit the track etc),finally i find TB,it is very good for offline map navigate, but do not have this basic fucntion,I'm a backpackers always want goto someplace where no mobile signal, also no map prepared in my mobilephone,I think this function is very need and useful, this function is very basic and popular can find in handset gps device like garmin ,houlx.... |

I promise to research this feature over the weekend, in order to be able to give a realistic esitmation when this could be implemented. |

would this not just be like the HPS without the compass? and showing all wpts and possibly more zoom levels? _________________ Nexus 5X, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 3G, HTC Sensation, nokia 5800. web:www.thetrekbuddies.co.uk . Twitter:http://twitter.com/TheTrekbuddies |

kruch,
Colud the easy way be implementing a Multilayer Atlas as small as possible (without images) called "Ghost Atlas"?
Then add an option called "No Map Mode" that selects this "Ghost Atlas".
Unfortunarely I'm not a java developer but it is only an idea. I would help you more but I cant't. |

That is how, I guess, I will implement it - virtual (=ghost) atlas. |
