Hi Kruch

@tomten if only I remembered in what version backlight worked (although just with on/off levels) without the service on UIQ...
The service helps TB with 1) backlight, and 2) tar-ed maps |
Well, since service support TAR'ed maps also I guess it would be wise to keep the service then. I am not sure but I think Backlight still worked in 81. The TBSV was introduced in 83?
When will you deploy .89 to correct the latest issues?
Best regards

| I hope tomorrow; I've got "adding new wpt to arbitrary file" feature almost finished, and then just another map loading problem to fix...

I have problems with the renderer on my N97 and 0.9.88 (tried the 2009-08-24 beta as well, both with safe rendering and not). When panning I get artifacts (shadowing) of the previous tile over the neighbour. In my opinion the rendering worked better in 0.9.87 (which I'm now using).
This with tarred atlas, 400x400 pix tiles.

| First release candidate for 0989 is here http://www.trekbuddy.net/beta/2009-08-27/index.php. Changes - add/record wpt & target gpx selection reworked, rendering "egine" changed again a bit, android version UI improved (navigation arrows fixed, using native widgets, finger clickable lists etc).

WELL DONE very happy with this version, all maps load ok, scrolling is good, adding wpt to existing gpx now preserve all fields, adding wpt to a new file is simple. just one small bug (add wpt to new file) first wpt created all ok if you add a second / third etc 2 wpts are written to the file for each

| I'm testing the release candidate. It fixes the bug when Cancel button was missing on Sony Ericsson phones. But I'm not very happy with the way how it is done. Instead of Cancel button there is Exit button! So right soft key doesn't close the menu bar. Instead of it it asks if I want to close TrekBuddy. The risk that I close it accidentally is quite high. If I choose not to close TB, the menu bar disappears correctly.

RC 0.9.89
Rendering when panning looks great now! I also don't get a Java exception error when switching to a layer that contains maps too small.
However, I got a Java IO-error, something about GPS sharing when starting TrekBuddy. This on a N97 with the nokia betalabs JRE 2. I exited and started again and no error this time. Haven't got this error before, it could've just been a fluke.
I (typical?!) received a phonecall when trying to record a track outside. Then, when trying to exit TrekBuddy I got stuck in "do you want to exit [yes|no]" with no other way out than rebooting the phone. I tried a few more times, with no problem exiting. I can live with a crash if receiving calls, no problem. It could have been a fluke as well, never reappering.
The timestamps in the GPX trackfile looks ok, but for some reason one app that I'm using (GPS Action Replay) doesn't like thousands of a second in the timestamp.

This makes the track appear as starting on 1.1.1970 in GPSAR. Also, when trying to move along the time-axis the boat doesn't move. This could probably be a bug in GPSAR as well, who knows?
We are using GPSAR to track several sailboats racing on a map. See example on H-vene.net. It would be *really* nice if the tracks would work straight from the phone, without post-processing with e.g. gpsbabel so one could upload the track while still on the water (crop track (start-time, stop-time) feature request please).
Could there be an option for track-recording to just save seconds? I don't think the precision of the GPS-receiver allows for a real precision of position with a thousand of a second?
Even though the GPX 1.1 xsd allows fractions of a second for millisecond timing, the ISO 8601 also say that fractional seconds are allowed I think that it would be prudent to just write seconds into the trackfile, for the sake of compatibility? Or, have it configurable?
Working timestamp for me looks like this;
| Code: |
| <time>2008-06-04T15:10:00Z</time> |
Thanks! You're doing a great work and we *really* appreciate it all of us on fe83.org!

When using this beta, together with the attached atlas, I get a

After this is fixed ... may we have the BB version for testing too please?
Thanks

@shen I uploaded bb version; it is with the "duplicated-wpt" bug, though...

I did some more testing. Sorting by distance works perfectly and adding waypoint to the selected file is great, too. I've found some more bugs. Some of them were in previous versions, too.
- "Show all waypoints" works for the first time, but when I want to show waypoints from another file, this function is hidden in the menu. The only way is to close TB and start it again. If it is not possible for simplicity to show waypoints from different files, this items should be always in the menu and should cause hiding waypoints from the first file and showing waypoints from the second one.
- In the dialog when user can select name of the GPX file, it is not necessary to show the extension .gpx. There is a danger, that user would accidentally modify it and will not be able to open the file in TB. The extension should be added automatically by TB.
- List of GPX files is not ordered alphabetically. This makes it a bit more difficult to search the file.
- And there is the bug which I've mentioned in the previous post. Cancel button is replaced by Exit button on Sony Ericsson phones. This is very unpleasant bug.

@haraldh right, I guess fractional part is too "scientific", despite conforming to the spec, and despite the fact some GPS can give you fix more frequently than 1 Hz; I'll remove it
Also will look into Exit issue, other phones are somewhat affected too (pavelh reported)

@pavelh
- you should not need to restart TB, how about HideAll? I'll try to make ShowAll available when it is "safe" (hard to explain, it is internal TB limitation)
- good point
- it is, almost, except that last used file is first, but perhaps it only should be when adding new wpt
- Exit/Cancel - I will fix it

Trying to install http://www.trekbuddy.net/beta/2009-08-27/trekbuddy_bb_v42.zip DM says that this version is not compatible with my device (Bold with latest official F/W 4.6.0.297)
