I have a XDA Orbit with Windows Mobile 6.1.
My Folder "trekbuddy" is on the memory card.
But, I don't know the right adress for DataDir.
Can anybody help me, please?
I tried those adresses - but it don't works:

| Try Load Map and go to root (of not already there) to see what roots there are. Or load a map and set it as default and then check Settings->Basic->Default Map... |

Thank you. I've got it.
The right adress for my windows mobile phone is:
file:///Speicherkarte/trekbuddy/
But now I've got another problem:
TrekBuddy dosn't identify my GPS-Unit.
In my "XDA Orbit" the GPS-Unit is integrated.
In TrekBuddy->Settings->Location the Provider is selected on "Stream".
It is possible to change the "Connection URL" - But I don't know what I've got to write in.
And I've read somithing about the "GpsPortPPC.exe"-Tool. But I don't know how to use it.

1. Run GpsPostPPC, select internal GPS COM port and Start it
2. In TB Settings, leave ConnectionURL as it is, ie socket://127.0.0.1:20175, and Start tracking... |

In GPSPortPPC there is no "internal GPS COM port".
I can only select:
"Input:" COM0 / COM1 / COM2 / COM3 / COM9
"Output:" is leave as it is: "20175"
I've got the newest version from this community: Version 0.36

So, I did what you said. But it isn't still working.
1.0 I select GPS-Port in WM-Setings on "COM8"
2.0 I start "GpsPortPPC.exe".
2.1 I select "Input:" on "COM8"
2.2 I leave "Output:" as it is on "20175"
2.3 I press the "Start"-button.
2.4 In GpsPortPPC stand now "Listening..."
2.5 I minimaze "GpsPortPPC.exe". This Programm is running now in background.
3.0 I start the Java-Aplication
3.1 I select "TrekBuddy". TrekBuddy is loading now.
3.2 In TrekBuddy I go to ->Settings->Location
3.3 I have two choices for "Provider": "Stream" or "Simulator". I'm selecting "Stream"
3.4 I leave "Connection URL" as it is: "socket://127.0.0.1:20175"
3.5 I click "OK" and "Save" this Settings.
4.0 Now, I want to try if it works.
4.1 I click "start"
4.2 WM ask me for rights to connect with grps.
4.3 When I allowed it, GRPS ist starting. There is a blue small ball right/top but it don't change to green - It still dosn't works!
4.4 When I forbid it, nothing works. There is a red small ball right/top.
What is wrong?

Why is it so complicate? Why is TrekBuddy not able to use the GPS-Information direct from "COM.." like other programs?

Ok thank you. Now I know why I need GPSPort.
But TrekBuddy isn't still working. In your Link there is no solution for my Problem.

| In step 4.3 (GPSPort running, TB running and the small ball at top-right corner is blue), is there any error in Info->Technical->Provider status or Provider error? |

The problem is, I supouse, that GPSPort does not open the GPS com port, but only reads from this port. Port opening is the only requirement to "wake up" Internal GPS (I found this statement on HP support forum and it works). The solution is to run another native WM application like lightweight (and freeware) GPS2Blue.
GPS2Blue wakes GPS up and GPSPort sends data from GPS com port to TrekBuddy.
P.S.
I tried to use GPS2Blue RedirectToTCPIP functionality with TrekBuddy but with no luck  . I set the Remote IP parameter to 127.0.0.1 and of course corresponding port but GPS2Blue still says that there is problem with remote IP. I suspect that problem is that both TrekBuddy and GPS2Blue try to open socket, but as I am not developer of GPS2Blue nor TrekBuddy  I am not sure.
It will be nice to do everything with one application - so I think that GPSPort should be rewritten to implement GPS initiation part. |

Device settings:
GPS Port:
TrekBuddy:
Now when you press start your light should turn amber:
and after a longer while green
I hope it helps someone.
