using TB on my SAMSUNG SGH-G810 (internal GPS) no SPEED-Value is displayed in CMS. And related to this no further speed calculations are performed. All values are displayed as “0.00”.

Now since I've tried track logging in NMEA-Mode and afterward I've checked the resulting file. I discovered that the file contains plain values for SPEED as KM per hour.

I notice it in the always repeating NMEA sentence tagged “GPVTG” (Track made good and Ground speed).

So maybe Kruch can get aware of this and can use this output to fix the SPEED issue for SAMSUNG models and/or other devices which suffer the same problems.

It would be really nice and I would appreciate any effort and improvement to the program, made to fix this matter.

Thanks for reading and noticing.

later added: Also the NMEA sentence "GPRMC" reveals a "Speed over ground in knots". It's presented by the value following the 7th comma. Maybe this is helpful too. And NMEA tag "GPGSA" reveals the number of used satellite signals for "FIX". So based on this they could be counted for "2D" or "3D" - FIX. Which solves another minor issue with the always as "2D"-FIX displayed value in CMS on this model or other models with internal GPS too.

Can you attach actual NMEA log that you made with Internal provider?

Hello Kruch,

maybe you can make it optional to the user which data provider is applicable for their handset model. My SAMSUNG G810 has build in GPS and for TB the Java API is used by default as I know.

Recording my tracks in NMEA-Mode provides a wider range/set of data and information than in GPX-Mode or as provided by the Java API of this model.

If I only could tell TB to use the NMEA-Data provided by the internal GPS instead Java API, I hopefully would get the speed values and all related calculations in CMS too.

Would give hope for the SXG75 as well ---
though I'm afraid it's not easy (or rather: impossible, even for Kruch Question ) to implement ...

You can turn on NMEA logging for Internal provider on SXG75 too, but AFAIK the log on SGX75 is empty, unline the Samsung where it is complete NMEA dump...

'AFAIK': you are right, NMEA logs are empty, matches all my tests so far.
Strange thing is: As stated elsewhere, I saw NMEA logs in the SXG Komunikator
( http://spssoftware.cz/?view=delphi_htm/komunikator ).
The NMEA information is accessible through a specific port of the SXG75
(port 1 for modem, port 2 for Brew, port 3 for GPS/NMEA).
I know far too little, though, about all those mobile devices / platforms, to have any clue why it's not visible for TB / through Java ....

Isn't Komunikator PC application?
Are the ports visible to java (Info->Technical->Ports)?

Yep, it's a PC application.

TrekBuddy Technical Info says:

Code:

...
DeviceCtrlSiemens
Ports true; com0,usb0
...

When connecting SXG75 via USB to the PC,
Device Manager sees:

Code:

Modems
 (1)  BenQ Siemens Mobile Phone
Ports (COM & LPT)
 (2) BenQ Siemens Diagnostics Interface (COM7)
 (3) BenQ Siemens NMEA Device (COM8)

Bezy's Brew Mobile Commander uses
(1) as OBEX port, (2) as Brew port.

The Komunikator has a 'Blockades / GPS' Tab,
there I saw the NMEA sentences;
it also has a graphical view for the satellites, which worked.
That's why I think the relevant information is available on the phone,
but maybe not accessible via Trekbuddy.

Maybe TB could read something out of com0 or usb0, but I think someone already tried using Stream provider with both (? not sure) without success... Maybe some initialization (like with HGE-100) is needed?
Or perhaps it just isn't possible...
