I have a swedish map in RT90-datum. I use fugawi to cut out a piece and save as jpg. I then use Map calibrator v2.5 to calibrate the map with the coordinates I've got from Fugawi(I've switch datum in Fugawi to WGS84).

I then download the map and calibration file(.gmi) to TB.

But when I look at the map in TB the position is about 100m wrong.
Do you have any clue what's wrong?

The datum in TB is set to WGS84.
The map-calibration seems to be ok becase if I load a recorded gpx-file into Map calibrator it shows up correctly.

Wrong is that as far as I know, Map calibrator does not put projection and datum info into its .gmi, so TrekBuddy assumes it is some WGS84 Lat/Lon (or UTM, I'm not sure) - hence the shift...

You are right. There is no datum info in the gmi-file.

Do you have any idea how to solve the probelm?

You could use OziExplorer - a superior tool for maps Wink

I have made a try with oziexplorer but with no success. The demo-version I downloaded have a lot of limitations.
It is not possible to change datum and I can only have 2 calibration points.

In case it's of any interest:

The demo and trial versions of Oziexplorer each have different limitations. It might be worth trying the trial version.

If you can get an Ozi map, you could try Map Merge for OziExplorer to change datum http://www.oziexplorer3.com/mapmerge/mapmerge.html

followed by DeMapper from Terraperfecta http://www.terraperfecta.com/demapper.php to convert the image to png.

By using the trial version of Oziexplorer instead of demo-version I was able to calibrate the map correctly. In the trial-version it is possible to change datum and projection.

Now it works perfect. Thank you!

Hello,
I'm new to trekbuddy and I think it's the soft I was looking for !
It works on my sony-ericsson P1i.
I've tried to make maps but I seem to have the same problem : location shifted from about 100m.
I used kap maps from fugawi/shom convert them with ozi. but I don't know what changes I must use in ozi.
Could you help me please ?

Thanks

Did you get my mail.
Sorry, I did not ask before because I don't have my GPS now. I'm waiting for a new bluetooth unit in a few days.

Sorry, I surely did wrong.
I have my new gps unit. I have tested it with some trekking maps and it is perfect. I still have to test with nautical maps to be sure. So I won't bother you for now. I hope my problem is solved.
